Since the site is already translated to portuguese, I would like to be able to insert the portuguese flag in my fellowship, "Tugas", because that´s the main language spoken there...

Thema: Marking messages read /unread
What about a feature that marks messages read/unread? background: i am translating into german (finished - but many messages with suggestions, corrections etc. come in) and it would be helpful to mark some messages unread again (as a simple workflow)
maybe interesting for all - not always you can or want answer immidiately

  • Right align all columns containing numbers.
  • Add two columns with totals (or one column with two numbers): number of finished games , and number of games whose result contributed to the BKR.
  • Add a column "games in progress".
  • Add the sum of established BKR, the average established BKR, and the number of game types for which the player has an establish BKR. (Similar to the "Statistics" page).

Thema: Invitations
Could we please see the date when a game invitation was placed? Sometimes it would be a usefull information to know how long I had an invitation pending before withrawing it.

Oh, and why is it that when viewing a game invitation I placed for an opponent I am shown a message stating that I cannot create a new game because I'm a pawn and am out of free slots? The game is already created, that's no longer a problem ;)

those who use the cloak mode.. shouldn't be able to see those of us not using cloak. Good idea, that would save me some screen estate. That is, if the line of the last page requested by the browser someone was using was replaced by nothing, and not by something indicating you're not going to see it.

Thema: Ponds... move and go to next game.
This is a nice addition to pond games, but it doesnt take you to the next most important gamer to play, time wise! I think it should be set up to take you to the next game that is due to time out first. (I think now it takes you to the game that was started the longest ago) Or maybe even expand the options to resemble regular (non multi player type) games, where there are many options on which game to go to next?

Walter Montego: that would create games which are in a draw position .. in which both players will continue making their moves ... never finishing the game .. and hoping the other will time out some day .. neither of them would dare to offer a draw as the opponent doesnt have to accept it and can just continue to prolong the game

sometimes a draw offer is a gentleman like way to finish a game

Thema: Re: Perpetual draw offers should be prohibited
chessmec: It'd appear that you missed my posts against draws in Chess on the Chess discussion board. I agree though, that it is wrong to offer draws in this manner. As I proposed, once you offer a draw you should no longer be able to win the game if your opponent declines the draw offer. Just implementing that would curtail draw offers immmensely. Plus, it'd make just one draw offer a game possible, since you could no longer win the game if you asked for a draw, the moment your opponent asks for a draw later in a game that you offered one in, neither of you would be able to win. Nice simple solution to the whole draw offer business. Not just for Chess, but for all games. Plus games that a draw is not a possible outcome should not have a draw as a possible outcome.

Perpetual draw offers should be prohibited!

In some games my opponent offers every move a draw. What about a feature which stops an every-move-draw-offer and make it available only after 2 moves after the last offer?

I would like to see the larger tournaments broken up into mutliple pages.
With WebTV, there are tournaments where I can never view my section. (Specifically, the $50 tournament.) I can't even view the whole thing after turning WebTV off and coming back with an empty cache!

I always played not having to take a piece, and no pieces were forfeited either. If there are two kings left on one side, and one on the other, the two kings force the single king back against a side until they have nowhere left to move except into a position where the opponent can take them.
If the players have one king each, its a draw.

If we were playing a game of checkers where jumps were not forced, and we were down to the typical minimal endgame where you had 2 kings and I had 1 king, you could not win the game.

I am not making a claim based on supposition, it is a fact.

If I don't have to jump you, when you try to swap off my last man, I just move to some other square.

If there is no way to conclude a game, then what fun is there in playing it? Would you want to play a game for a few months, only to have it drag on ad infinitum?

It would be like playing a game of baseball without walks or strikes. There is no consequence for 'doing nothing'.

Kinda funny answer, I think he meant separate variant of checkers for beginners, what would you say about other flawed variants like Mahajarah chess, Open pente, Five in line etc. then? There are many such games here where experts say one side has forced win. Conclusion: if you don't like them, don't play them...

There is only one problem with that, and it is a big problem. When you swap all the way down to 2 kings against 1, if jumps are not forced, there is no way to win the game.
