i downloaded vnc .. didnt know it was free .. so i can play around with it :)
the computer i have to connect to i have to reach via dial up ... 'pc anywhere' will accept the dial up on the other side .. i cant use 'external connection' of windows to connect to the computer as i dont know how to specify the username/password/... as it was handled by 'pc anywhere'
how can i create a dial up connection with VNC ?
when i run the VNC server on the remote computer .. can i set it up to accept incoming calls so i can connect to it from my pc at the office via dial up ?
Hrqls: Sorry, i am using VNC too, but i do not need dial-up.
but i worked with pc anywhere for some years and i know that there were under w2k some problems with the graphical driver.
what pc anywhere evrsion are you using? maybe it is not compliant with xp.
chessmec: thats true .. when i installed pc anywhere it already warned me it wouldnt work under xp ... i was stubborn and curious .. and wanted to test it ... so i installed it :)
it did work under xp!!! i could do exactly what i wanted to do .... it just messed up my graphics driver ;)
(and thats something i didnt expect :))
they will buy me a new version i guess ... or i cant connect to the remote pc anymore .. which is no pain for me either as thats the pc which gives the most nasty problems all the time ... so i would rather not connect to it :)

As of April 12, Windows XP users who have not downloaded Service Pack 2
will no longer be able to block the update from downloading onto their machines
without blocking other updates at the same time; users can prevent SP2 from
downloading by disabling Automatic Update.
One survey shows that only about 25% of corporate PCs running XP have downloaded XP2.

all major antivirus vendors have fresh virus definition files available now.
another interesting program is "bho scanner" - browser helper objects like google's
toolbar are useful, but there are malicious ones too, installing to harm your computer ... ~*~

Bry: an easy way to work it out if you dont know how is to look at a page where it is done and View Source You will see all the code you need to work it out
underline= < u> your word< /u> to close it... leave out the space before the u and before the /
bold = < b>your word< /B> to close it...again leave out the space before the b and also before the /
you queried "view source" ....that is the "code" that is written to show how the page looks now...right click on anypart of the page and click View Source in IE or view page source in firefox

JamesHird: lol you must be kidding ... is not such a db page
a bit huge to look up ? good opportunity to remind of correctly
closing html tags, or you will land in the source while editing. ~*~

BerniceC: once I didn't close a triangle bracket in one of my msgs _
after that I had to delete the post, since clicking on edit led into the land
of html source (complete ! ) and all proper ways back were barred. ~*~

danoschek: I use the method James indicated and it works perfectly easily for me.
The only trick I find is knowing what the text is that has been coded, then while viewing the souce you do a simple find and it takes you to the correct spot where you can look at the code around the words that you already know are coded.
This method is particularly useful if you are ever browsing the web and you see something in particular on any webpage that you really really like and want to learn how to emulate it

hope everybody has the newest versions of mozilla and firefox meanwhile -
for mozilla partly critical ... the scene faces an increased crafting of spyware for
the winner browsers ... btw google search will support their prefetching now. ~*~
Has anyone had a problem with a wireless network and Mozilla? I just installed a netgear network and we're having all kinds of problems. All the pc's are new with XP. One by one, they stopped communicating with the print server and one has trouble accessing the internet.
We finally got some qualified techs out today and 7 hours later, we got everything working. They had to restall all the operating systems and everything. Seems the first installer thought it would be a wonderful idea to remove ALL firewalls except for the one built into the router. Somehow went ended up with all kinds of corrupted systems.
I have swift tabs where F1 is backwards and F2 is forwards.
F2 works fantastically however F1 does tab backwards although it makes help pop up at the same time.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the silly help pop up?
rabbitoid: I wonder what the point is for Firefox to have F1 as the hotkey to backward tab then? I can only assume there must be a way to change the F1-F2 defaults for the tabbing. If there is no way to change it, it would seem to be quite stupid then. As I dont see firefox as being stupid, there must be a way to change the hotkeys that I dont know about
Fencer: The image with the id "rightarm" is supposed to be changed to the selected value from the drop down list, while the iframe (name="iframe") is supposed to be refreshed.
i didnt realize how much spyware is on this site until i downloaded microsoft antispyware. my goodness. which brings up my question who decides if a site is to carry spyware or not is it the choice of teh site owner or does it just get into teh system/site by itself?
My firewall is telling me that this is not a safe site. adn the new microsoft anitspyware is trying to block this site. when i ran spybot and adaware this site was never a problem but the second i started to use this new one, i started getting all kinds of warnings. the pop up that i always got when i was here was auror and a casino gaming site.
Nothingness: Try some other cookie intensive sites and I think you'll find you have a similar experience. When I first loaded Microsoft anti-spyware I got the same treatment on lots of different web sites. I turned it off and went back to the products I know and trust.
This site should be clean & safe. I think (guessing - Fencer would know for sure) - I think that the pictures on this site is actually hosted on a different "server" then where the pages are loaded from - and I think if a browser is set at the highest security, it will view a site that gets pictures from a second site as a security risk. (That way some scam artist does not pretend it is PayPal.) Again, I'm guessing here.
What exactly are the messages / security warning you are getting?
This is quite a cool little extension. Received some very good reviews and I really like it.
I set it up to automatically scroll through the area of various family and friends around the country so that I can just glance down every once in a while to see what their weather is like.
ForecastFox - Pretty cool, I have the current weather, and the forcast for the next few days on the bottom bar of the browser, out of the way - but handy for a quick forcast.
BugMeNot - Some websites make you create a login & password just to view something on their site - something which you may only want to spend 5 minutes looking at and never come back. BugMeNot will search through it's records and fill in the userID & Password for sites like this if it has it so you don't have to.
StumbleUpon - If you are bored, this is pretty cool - find random internet sites - rated by other stumbleupon users.
I also have DictionarySearch & Translate - but never really used it other then loading them.
