Question for Brainking tournament experts: is there a definitive way to tell whether I will be accepted into a tournament when it starts?
My concern is membership-wise. Knight membership says I can only be in one tournament of a game type at a time. But I appear to be in two pente tournaments right now, so I'm not sure I understood that correctly.
The important thing is that I be eligible for aaru's pente tournament when it starts in a few days. Is there a button to "check eligibility now" or the like? What happens if I'm ineligible (do I get booted the day of the start with no option to deal with it)?
tarcellius: I believe the tournament will just boot you out since you already have a Pente tournament. If you really wanted to play, I guess you could resign your Pente tournament game, and since you would lose the section if you did, you could ask Fencer to allow you to play in the other.
mybirthdaysoon: That's the confusing part. I am already in two pente tournaments right now, both of which are running and partially completed. Which seems to contradict the "one tournament" rule right there. For all I know I can play the upcoming pente tournament with no trouble, too.
mybirthdaysoon: ive created many tournaments and it lets ppl sign up for them then if you cannot take part it will delete you at the starting time and inform you why
danheg: Ah thats a point, i am not sure, maybe if he has finished playing in a tournament and he cant progress any further, Fencer might be able to rlease him from it, so he can enter aaru's tournament.
mybirthdaysoon: One of the earlier posts implied that maybe I entered one of my tournaments as a pawn before upgrading to a knight and entering another tournament. That might have happened and tricked the check.
As luck would have it, I'm waiting for the next round to start in both the tournaments I'm already playing. So I can't easily resign my way out - and I'm reluctant to do so after playing to get there. :)
So I'm probably faced with upgrading to rook to be in the new tournament. But thanks to everyone for clarifying that the restriction does apply to this situation.
tarcellius: I bought into a knight once. Then I let it run its course and saw its limitations pretty quickly. It is worth buying a rook membership. This message also goes out to all other non-rooks, based on impartial experience...
tarcellius: I wouldnt expect you to resign, we jsut thought that ,maybe you had completed your round in one of the tournaments, and if u were unfortunate not to progress to the next, which is not the case in your situation, you could have asked Fencer to remove you from it.
tarcellius: There seems to be reasontobelieve that the one-tournament-per game restriction was removed without an announcement. Also, the fact that you are currently playing two Pente tournaments is strong evidence of this, unless you were a Rook at some point in the past. I would recommend against upgrading your membership, unless you want to do so for other reasons. It would be a shame if Fencer's habit of inadequate documentation led directly to an increase in his profits.
You're listed as being signed up for the tournament in question, and (while I could be mistaken) I believe that if the restriction were in place you would have been unable to sign up at all. I expect you'll be able to play without needing to upgrade.
KotDB: By the way, to those who responded about my issue of tournament eligibility as a knight (several days back), it turns out KotDB was right. Apparently knights can enter more than one tournament of a game type now.
I tested the theory by signing up for several dice poker tourneys over a few days, and that worked fine. Sure enough, I'm in aaru's tourney now with no problems.
