Marshmud: and she just resigned a tourney game with me, I took at look at her profile,  and she was resigning all her games. Next thing I noticed was her brains total, went from 330 to 430, from under a 100 a short time ago. I really don't like giving her the attention but her behaviour really is ridiculous.

The Col: I can see two backgammon games where you timed out, they were 2 days, no days off, so vacation days wouldn't be used.

Hrqls: I definitely like your view but unfortunately I have ended up with multiple games with cheaters, and it's hard to enjoy games with them.

This has been going on for months, and some of the cheaters have been contacted directly to no avail.

Anyway, I've had enough of all this, nothing is going to happen, and I try hard to avoid games against known cheaters.

Hrqls: this has all been brought to the attention of Fencer by more than one person, and nothing has changed. It is ridiculous how much cheating is going on, and I have lost a lot of faith in this site. The brains issue is just a part of it as well as multiple accounts.

Marshmud: I purchased 600 brains years ago when you could. Entered lots of tournaments,  won a few, lost more and was down to 2 brains. Won a tourney so back up to 42, entered another, so down to 37.

Those 37 I will be extra careful where I use them. I absolutely despise liars and cheats, and there are a lot of them crawling out of the woodwork. It really sucks the fun out of playing when you end up with games against known cheats.

August 2004 is when I joined. This site was my escape from an unhappy marriage and I spent a lot of time here.
I don't spend much time here now as I work 40+ hours a week and have a family,  but I still love playing here.
I also thank Fencer and I will keep playing here.  Still have a few achievements to get

rod03801:it's ok, I wasn't offended, just really didn't like being singled out for playing within time limits, which some see as slow play.

I don't join many tournies now, only ones I am really interested in.  Or team tournies in games I like.

Anyway, the comment just caught me at a bad time, and I am sorry I over-reacted.

Gabriel Almeida:sigh, I am a slow player but I don't purposely slow down tournaments.  I play within time limits, and if you look at my profile, I have used less than 2 vacation days this year.  You won't find me using vacation days to extend a tournament.

I play games in order of remaining time, so if a tournament has a long time limit, it will take longer to play.  But I have a life outside of BK, and a part-time job now as well as a family.

I am actually getting to the point where it is not worth playing here anymore, more negative than positive. And this sort of post is almost the last straw.......

Teema: daylight savings time
I am in New Zealand and have this problem as well.  We just changed back from DST on the weekend(coming into winter here), and I've had to change my time zone to show the correct time.  I usually have to adjust it several times a year depending on whether it is us in NZ changing, or the server chaning to/from DST.  At one stage I have to just have the wrong time cos there is no option to show the right time - hard to explain but NZ shows as GMT +12 hours, and with the inconsistencies with DST changing we are sometimes at GMT +13hrs, but there is no option to change to that.  I have gotten used to it in the 7 odd years I have been using this site, and just make sure I keep up with games.

Teema: Backgammon settings
Hi, I am having problems loading the settings page for backgammon, the pieces aren't loading, though can see the green dot to change the settings.  Can someone tell me what each setting is, ie is the top one small or big?

Thanks

Jo

Teema: Re: Automatic Vacation
tenuki: Well, I am thankful to have the automatic vacation feature. My hard-drive died a bit over a month ago, and I had very limited access to internet, an hour every few days. So only had time to play games I would time out in.

Having automatic vacation meant that the majority of my games didn't time-out, and I am busy catching up again, now I have a hard-drive again.

I agree some abuse the system, but others like me, genuinely need/needed to use the automatic vacation. I love playing here, and worked hard to get my ratings. I would not like to lose what I have gained, if no automatic vacation time.

Fencer: Yes, the three games I had "stuck" a short time ago just played fine.

Just this one not resolved, that I won, showing as my opponent's turn in my list of games.

beach: Add me to the list. Wouldn't let me post a reply at the bug tracker either. This game for me: http://brainking.com/game/ShowGame?g=981875

Also as someone else noted as a bug, game ended, I won, shows as a win in my total, and in tourney as a win,but no message.

Hope this posts

Fencer: Yippee, works for me too, thanks heaps!

Got a query for you, I'm a numbers person, and would like to be able to see the average of my established games. I know you can see that for the top 50, but would it be possible to add something like that to profile page? I have set up a separate spreadsheet, and just change numbers myself, just to see how I am doing. Thanks, JO.

Arctic Warrior: you are not the only one. I brought this up a few months ago, but there seemed to be nothing wrong, it just doesn't work! Auto-refresh works on other sites for me (AllMixxedUp, Smilecity-a NZ site), so can't figure out why it doesn't here.

Funny thing is, worked for about 3 weeks when I first joined, then didn't, then I became a paid member, worked again for about 2 weeks, now hasn't for quite a while.

I'm running win98, have Internet Explorer, so its not my settings either.

You are right, that we are GMT +13 so doesn't work for NZ. Our daylight savings time changed beginning of October, when we put clocks forward an hour. Just means I have to remember that when the clock says 11pm it really is midnight lol.

unfortunately that doesn't work for us in New Zealand, have it set at the furtherest time but still shows one hour behind what the time actually is, no other options after that.
