Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.

yurkin: I now play a lot on Board Game Arena (BGA). I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for classic games like chess or backgammon, but it's the best place for modern board games. Think Carcassonne, Azul, 7 Wonders, Splendor, and other games like that.
Gabriel Almeida: It was a planned downtime, but it appears the work took longer than expected. I assume they put up the BK page when they realized that the site was going to be down longer thant the hour predicted.
happyjuggler0: there is a Feature Requests board where requests can be submitted. Fencer reads all of the posts on that board and takes them into consideration when creating new features.
Never mind, a simple restart later, and we're good to go. --------------------------- For some reason the images in this game won't load. Dice Chess 10x10 (Somelaughs2 vs. nodnarbo) I'm playing other games fine though, and the page loading time doesn't seem to be any slower. I'm wondering if the games I am playing have the images cached on my computer, is anyone else having problems?
Bernice: I'm sorry I attacked you personally, I just get really sick of people complaining to Fencer about the site being slow. He's obviously not doing it intentionally, and by now he knows that people have problems and has done all he could to try figure out the problem. Reiterating the problem every week or 2 is not going to make anything better.
Bernice: I know you did. Does that mean you're accusing Fencer of specifically providing bad service to Australia?
My point is, if it works in the US, UK, and Ukraine it's not the site's problem, there's something beyond their control that is slowing things down for you.
coan.net: I'm curious now, however, if a running tournament doesn't prevent a BB from kicking out a player, then why do players have to finish all their tournament games before they are allowed to leave the tournament. If the tournament will continue fine either way, what's the difference?
Pedro Martínez: yea, I see that now, but when I asked it was during a 24 hour bonus period. Mostly I just got confused when the clock was past the time that the bonus was supposed to end and the bonus light was still on. I think it has like a minute lag time.
Fencer: How about adding this link somewhere in the description of the Feature request board. Most people don't go back in the archives of brainking.info very far to read articles, and I'm sure there are a lot who've never read that article, but would benefit from reading it.
Fencer: That worked, and I see what the problem is...In Plakoto the images which have black and white pieces on the same point aren't supported in the large style pieces
pauloaguia: What if, instead of adding time to games the games just continue into negative time, but they aren't checked for time out if a vacation day is activated. This is also already implemented on the site with the case of site downtime, and wouldn't think it would take a huge coding change.
So I was taking a look at the game settings page just now, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the first and third sets of Logik pieces.
Nothingness: when you say "it says anyone can play" I assume you mean on the invitations area under opponent where it says 'anyone'. This just means the invitation is not to a specific player, and not that your BKR limits are not in place.
coan.net & Mousetrap: the site was down for about an hour and a half or something, and then time-outs were suspended for 24 hours, so there was plenty of time given
I am having issues with the brainking.info site. I tried to comment on there but couldn't figure out how, but that's not my main problem. I'm trying to do the speed test, but it says I have to update my flash player. I downloaded the installer and installed it, but it still says I need to update. I was trying to figure this problem out on another computer recently with no success. CAN ANYONE HELP??
redfrog: heh, my parents have no idea what I do on this site, all they know is that I play too many games than is good for me they also know I have some sort of paid membership that I paid for myself, but have no idea how much it set me back. Honestly I don't think most parents would be able to figure it out unless of course they played here themselves.
the fact the yesterdays top movers were from Poland, USA, and Germany and the czech republic doesn't come in til 4th says something. Although I havn't noticed that the site's been any faster for me. I just had a lot of time, and played 2 games at once in different tabs on firefox.
