Mélusine: I can't speak for *all* tablets, but on iPads you can select text by putting your finger on the beginning (or end) and hold, and then drag to the other end. after letting go, a little menu appears, where 'Translate with Google' is an option (as is 'Lookup' which googles it, nice if there is a word or phrase you don't know). I have no other tablets, but I would guess Androids offer something similar.
rod03801: I'm aware of that, but I wasn't sure if it works on all platforms, so I didn't mention it. It works for me under iOS, iPadOS, and Windows 10.
Bernice: for general info: you can always copy and paste unknown text into google translate (https://translate.google.com/?sl=auto&tl=en&op=translate) and it will not only tell you the translation, but also what source language it was.
If you check the running games in this tournament (TIGER TOURNAMENT ТУРНИРА НА ТИГЪРА part 7), you will see two games where no move was made yet at all: aaru-Bluefin and Aganju-aaru. However, both my games have only a day and change in time left, whereas the other game has still over seven days. If nobody ever made a move in either game, how can there be such a difference? Shouldn't both games show the same remaining time???
Bernice: what do you mean 'stick your nose into it'?? Do you understand the term 'public forum'?? Why in the world would you post **publicly** if you don't want the public to see it and react to it???
Algis9: first, the total of all opponents points that were beat is added up, and the higher number wins (the concept is that you won against the stronger opponents). If this is not an option, or is equal too, the player with the lower rating wins (for him it is considered a greater achievement to hold a draw). It doesn't matter who offered the draw. As ratings are internally floating numbers, there are basically never equal.
Mélusine: I agree. Paris is great, and one of the best experiences in the world - but it doesn’t represent the French countryside very well. That is a very different - and also great - experience. You cannot see ‘France’ in one visit, there are too many distinct parts with their own highlights. I have been traveling to France for over forty years, over and over to different places, and there is still so much I haven’t seen. (You probably can guess I’m a big fan of France, but really, I’m not overselling it)
Carpe Diem: since I logged in first in 2011, after Carpe, and have numbers over 2000 it can't be that it counts only old games. also, the numbers change over time, so something is calculated - just no the right thing. I guess a quick look at the code would easily find the issue, but we don't have the code...
Carpe Diem: i spent several hours yesterday, downloaded all my data, and tried around how the wrong numbers could be made up, but found no way. It must be accessing the wrong fields or something, because there is no way to add up any combination of my completed games to get to this total. And after seeing your 0 0 0 0 - it seems it is looking at something completely different. Maybe some other player's data - the one with the id next to you?
Am I missing something, or is this just not correct? If you check under Statistics/Finished Games, at the bottom, your personal count is listed. However, this seems to show a far too small number for me (2260) - with only Backgammon, Nackgammon, and Fevga added up, I have already more than the shown number. Is there a filter applied ('last year'?) or something??
seldom: you are being ridiculous. Do you think if you block any Russian, they will go and speak up against Putin and risk death in a Gulag so they can continue to play here? Are you living under a rock? If Putin plays here, or one of his top aides, sure, block them. But the millions of Russians outside his direct contacts know very little about the war and have very little chance to do anything against it.
You should learn the value of the free speech you enjoy, and start using your brain.
MelissaMarie: and you can try by messaging Fencer. Maybe he is willing to look through your history and see that they are honestly won. Unfortunately, that's a common pattern in the world that a small number of cheaters destroy something for a large number of honest users.
does anyone know how the Access code works? on your 'My Profile' page, you can activate an 'access code' that can then be used for 'third party products' (??)
I would like to write code that reads some of my data (results and archived games), could I use that, and how? Did anyone ever try this?
nodnarbo: after several years of declining, I got talked into it this year. And I love it, it's a lot of fun and challenging. If you have the time for it...
Teema: Can you believe it? No internet for the whole town!
I lost some games on timeout because the whole town lost its internet connection for two days! Someone dug through the cable, and everything was out - including the cell phone towers. Thank god it's back now.
Carnie: things might have changed... nowadays, some countries have laws that require web sites to allow them to delete all accounts and history. Fencer probably would have to do that manually.
Carnie: it's the user ID 83705. But you cannot access it anymore; the usual link <https://brainking.com/profile?u=83705> fails (and shows your own profile instead). However, 83704 and 83706 are fine (both are from July 2009).
Looks like someone asked to be deleted explicitly. Or got deleted for exorbitant behavior in some way.</a>
Keejteej: welcome! You can play for free up to 20 games in parallel, and start new one anytime one of them is completed. If you want more, you need to buy a membership. You can pick games in the 'waiting games' menu (top left), join offered 'tournaments', or post your own games (with your time limit wishes) under 'new game'.
MrDelete: ok, understood. But there are dozens if not hundreds of tournaments ongoing with brains in them, so it's hard to say which one you mean. You can go to your finished game list, find that game, open it, and click the tournament link in it.
Teema: Re: Can someone please help me with setting my vacation time
The Col: vacation is used automatically, no need to do anything. The setting is for defining your 'weekend' - you can define your weekend to be Tue and Wed, for example, while the standard would be Sat and Sun.
Nice works: I'm not sure what kind of answer you expect, if you really except a serious answer, and are not just trolling.
Yes, it is of course possible to win an unlimited amount of brains in three wins - you enter a tournament with four participants, where X brains are offered for the winner, and win your three games. You will get X brains; with no upper limit on X. Is this the answer you wanted?
Realistically, the player has not won his brains that way; he either got them through cheating, or bought them, or as a donation - I got a 1000 brain donation some years ago, when I asked nicely for tips to be able to join those tournaments.
That approach might work for you too, but I'd recommend to reconsider the wording of your posts - if people see them as trolling, they are more reluctant to donate you brains. Otherwise, of course, you can write what you want.
Marshmud: i have played many brain tournaments and won some, that works automatically, and the brains come from what the participants paid, so there is no magic increase or brain generation.
there is however a bug that allows you to create brains for you, basically without limit. some people use the bug, and make themselves tens of thousands. Fencer didn't fix the bug, but instead declines if you buy memberships from illegally gotten brains.
DeaD man WalkiN: some people simply don't know the rules. Don't get angry; refer them to read the rules, and to stop playing if they don't like them.
Aside from that, I can understand that the doubling cube can be an extremely annoying thing, especially if you don't understand it - your opponent roles a lucky 6-6 and turns the game around, and then has the audacity to double... but that is Backgammon. [this is an explanation, not an excuse!] He needs to learn to use the cube. And if he cannot lose, he should go play with dolls instead.
ughaibu: i don't think 'Handicap' is implemented - you could only have players agree to voluntary make a poor move or move sequence as another way of 'Handicap' for them. There is no way to start with a piece removed.
heavenrose: Fyi, some people found tricks to milk the Brain system for many thousands of brains, so he decided to not accept memberships paid from those 'cheat'-brains. With people continuing to play, that brain inflation is now spreading to many more players. I'd guess if yours are honestly earned ones, you will probably get a membership for them. If you got them by tricking the system (or by winning against someone who got them tricking the system - you might not even know it), you might not. We'll see.
furbster: I tried that before, furbster, the problem is when my time zone wakes up, there are already hundreds of questions. Whatever I add then will probably never even been read.
To Fencer: Thanks for implementing this! Not because I like GDPR (I couldn't care less about it on BK), but because you are willing to go the extra mile and implement a relevant change to keep BK running - otherwise it would have to be shut down for legal reasons in May. And if we all remember - there is zero support guaranteed.
This could have been the end, but it isn't, so - Thanks!
Carpe Diem: FYO, either way, the rule is not coded; it is not enforced by BK in any way. I had many games where I discussed it with my opponents, and many of them agree to follow the rule 'voluntarily' (as I do). The ones that ignore the rule and my request, I don't do it either anymore.
I would interpret the rule in the way you do - if you cannot move anywhere with any dice role, your opponent must open up something somewhere. But maybe we should find someone who seriously plays Fevga outside of BK, for example in Turkey or Cyprus, where it is very common, and find out what the real-world official rules are. _If there are_ any official rules.
