ketchuplover: Maybe communist leadership , but who amongst the people would risk speaking out? In most Middle East countries you are literally putting your life at risk if you are openly gay
Teema: Re: Obama started off embarrassing himself (and us) by going on his world apology tour
Iamon lyme: reWho are you referring to when you say "This part of the world"?
I can't speak for the rest of the world, only the section I inhabit. The opinions here were positive when he toured during the election.I guess you have a different perspective.
Teema: Re: If Piers Morgan is the dude I think you are talking about (I think he was a judge on a talent show in the US) then I won't interfere with anyones effort to deport him.
Artful Dodger: It's a huge red flag when there is money to be made for energy policy changes"
And it's a huge red flag when the opposition stands to gain in the reverse. The pro and con to the discussion is cut right along party lines, which means both sides have supporters who blindly support each side with no clue of reality. So the tie breaker logically goes to informed sources, and they support the global warming/climate change theory by a landslide
rod03801: Smoking is apparently harder to quit than heroin. I'm not an "addictive personality" generally, but triggers such as coffee, reading, being online, driving, alcohol(though I drink very rarely) cause me to automatically reach for a cig.
Teema: Re: to what extent do we have free will and in what cases do we not ( if any)?
Iamon lyme: I usually tune out once I hear a half, or pack a day smoker give advice on how hard it is/was quitting, though I am aware they are trying to help.I was actually down to less than a pack over the holidays while staying in a home where the balcony was the only option.I have been smoking for about 30 years at an increasing rate, I've got to stop
Teema: Re: And how do you think Israel should have responded?
(V):re : " Although Jabari's killing signalled the start of Israel's offensive, it was preceded by spates of deadly cross-border violence which saw Palestinian militant groups, including Hamas's Qassam Brigades, firing hundreds of rockets into southern Israel and the Israeli military shelling Gaza and carrying out air strikes."
Exactly , they started it, and Israel was well within their rights to respond.Politically speaking you are well aware of the many differing opinions in Israel, and specifically The Knesset in regards to finding a lasting peace, but when it comes to defending against attacks, they unite.
Teema: Re: comparing Gaza to the Warsaw ghetto is ignorant V , and ignorant you are not.
Artful Dodger: And these are Israel's partners in peace? They are raised from infancy to hate, they know nothing else.If the Palestinians truly want peace, allowing a terrorist organization like Hamas to represent them is not the way to achieve it.Hamas doesn't want peace, of peaceful co existence, it would put them out of business
Teema: Re: comparing Gaza to the Warsaw ghetto is ignorant V , and ignorant you are not.
(V): It's a unique situation , and not based on racism as SA was.Can you imagine the uproar if the Israelis bombed a public transit bus, as the Palestinians did today? and have done so many times in the past.
Hamas doesn't want peace , it would put them out of business, same with Arafat, that's why he walked on proposals that later were determined to be more than fair.Israel does want peace, it makes no sense for them to want anything other than peaceful co-existence .
So do the math. This is a quote that pretty much sums up the situation
"Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us. What bothers me most is not that Arabs kill our children, but that they force us to kill theirs"
(V): I ve seen people called "idiots" amongst other such names, and nary a disenting word, oh well. What I find interesting is Obama won the election and the popular vote , but the only ones supporting him on this board are from the UK and Canada
Teema: Re:The trend in US politics from the liberal side has been to promote a "cult (or culture) of personality"... taking the focus off policies and placing it squarely on the personality of a leader.
Iamon lyme: Frankly, life is too short to weed through your often rambling statements, and I usually nod off by the first paragraph.I did research your insinuation that pot calling kettle black" is(or was) a racist statement. It dates back to the 1600's apparently, and it NEVER did, not then, not now. NO original subtext, nadda, zich. If you would like more info regarding the origons of "pot calling kettle black" I will send you the links
Teema: Re:The trend in US politics from the liberal side has been to promote a "cult (or culture) of personality"... taking the focus off policies and placing it squarely on the personality of a leader.

Iamon lyme: it's about hypocrisy, not racist bud, look it up, everywhere you look it will dismiss it as being racist
Artful Dodger: can i see the test? I don't think anyone who reads this board could possibly miss your "political leanings" so it should be pretty easy to fill in the boxes
Teema: Re: Oregon Election Worker Fired for Altering Ballots to Republican Straight Ticket
(V): Again this is an issue Republicans like to point the finger at Democrats for perpetuating , but as usual they seem to be the ones committing the crime.Standing on that pedestal can be daunting
Teema: Oregon Election Worker Fired for Altering Ballots to Republican Straight Ticket
An election worker in Oregon is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly altering multiple ballots to benefit Republican candidates.
In a press release on Monday, Clackamas County spokesperson Tim Heider said that 55-year-old Deanna Swenson had been "relieved of duty immediately after the alleged ballot tampering was discovered."
Swenson, who was registered as a Republican, was accused of filling in a Republican straight ticket on ballots where voters did not specify a choice.
Contacted by Willamette Week, Swenson tearfully insisted that it was "only the two" ballots that had been altered.
The Oregon Department of Justice began an investigation last week after an elections official reportedly observed ballots being altered.
"At this point, it is unclear how many ballots the employee at issue had access to, or what will be done with those ballots," the sheriff's office said on Monday.
At a Monday emergency meeting, officials in Clackamas County announced that the altered ballots would not be counted. Since ballots were anonymous, disenfranchised voters would not be given a chance to re-cast their votes.
Swenson has worked in elections since at least 2000, according to the Clackamas County spokesperson.
Blue Oregon's Kari Chisholm reported that the Oregon City woman's Facebook page indicated she "liked" various conservative personalities, candidates and organizations including the Republican National Committee, The Tea Party, Paul Ryan VP, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), Ann Romney and Fox News.
If convicted of a Class C felony for ballot tampering, Swenson could face five years in prison and a fine of up to $125,000
