You can remove yourself from a tournament before it is started. After that it is not possible, of course, because the sections would have to be recreated again and it would be too complicated.
You have probably clicked on "My tournaments" link. This page shows only tournaments that you have created (which is nothing because only Brain Rooks can create tournaments).
Yes, you have to wait. But there are two other possiblities:
1) Let me know that you've finished all your games. Then I will mark you as "eliminated" and you'll be able to sign up for another tournament.
2) Upgrade your membership. Then you'll be able to play more tournaments at once.
Pioneer: "Eliminated" in only an internal database term and has nothing to do with some real eliminating. It only tells the system that the particular player is free for other tournaments.
Better system will be implemented in the future.
Meanwhile, if it is absolutely clear that the pawn won't advance to the second round and his section is not finished yet, he can contact me and I will mark him as "eliminated" of the tournament, so he'll be able so sign up for another one.
I will start the second round ASAP. Zetes is probably on vacation or something.
Next time, you can immediately send a request directly to me, of course.
Ed: I am currently developing "private tournaments" - the tournament creator can invite specific players to sign up and nobody else can participate. This could solve your problem - you will allow only people who paid $50 to you to sign up for the World Championship. What do you think?
Btw, I will also not play in this tournament because I have no chance to win it. I am still a beginner in this game :-)
Management feels that non-paying members have really many advantages [compared to other game sites] and does not want to give them anything else for free. Please don't forget that this horde of pawns create a significant CPU load of our machines and giving them more privileges would only increase this load.
There is more about it on http://BrainKing.info tech page.
Eriisa: The games in this combobox are sorted by the last move date and time of your opponents. I will add more sorting options later because they can be too CPU-resources consuming and I would like to upgrade to a faster server first.
1) Sure. I will improve the messages.
2) Your Spider Line4 tournament contains only one section. The second round is available only if two or more sections were created.
Actually, S-B is only used when two or more players finish a tournament with the same "normal" points. See The first official BK tourney, Reversi 6x6. There are three winning players from the same section because they have the same both "normal" and "S-B" points.
macoan: You must wait only for your section to be finished. There is only one game left, it won't take too long. This is the free membership limitation.
rabbitoid: It means Sonne-Born points. It is a total sum of points of your opponents who lost a game with you and a half of points of your opponents who drawn a game with you.
alexlee: See your message box.
mcinturff: Only your section counts, until you are a winner and go to the next round. Once the section is finished, you are free for another tourney of the same game type.
You know, when I created the code for the very first tournament, it was designed mostly for myself only because I had to test it. So that's why I perfectly know where to find everything and it can be confusing to normal users :-) I will add some hints to the tournament pages.
dream: Okay, and when you are there, click on "back to the list of game types" and there is the button. I know that it is not very intuitive to find it, I will improve it later.
dream: You have only prepared the tournament. When I look at the database, the current status is WAITING. You must go up one level [from your tournament page] to the "list of all tournament" and click on "Start this tournament".
I read all suggestions and I make notes almost daily :-) But I have to put them to a task queue and postpone most of them. It is impossible to work on everything at once. Moreover, if I want to change some feature, it requires lots of tests and it simply cannot be released immediately.
The creator of a prize tournament gives all prizes. It means that if you create a tournament and promise one-year Brain Rook membership for the winner, you have to purchase it and then let me know which user I should activate. That's all :-)
dream: Anything that you want to give to a winner. Just describe it at the tournament description, e.g. 6-months Brain Rook memebership etc. And you can limit players signing up, just select the correct checkboxes at the tournament definition page.
One more thing - do you think that I should add a support for "theme tournaments"? For example, a chess tournament where all players must play King's gambit. Would it be interesting or only a waste of (my) time?
Hello,
please help me to solve this problem - if one defines a tournament for e.g. Brain Pawns only, a player with this level signs up and after two days [still before the deadline] he upgrades to Brain Knight, should the player be automatically removed from the tournament because he is not a Brain Pawn anymore?
Uil: You have to wait until the section is completed. It is not clear who is the winner at the current status.
Kevin: No, once all sections of one game type are completed, the new round can be generated. Since this feature was never used before, it is currently available for me only. When I test in on some tournament will completed sections, I will make it available for the corresponding tournament creators as well.
