rednaz23: i agree with Vikings - if they want to go faster - they will.... if they want to go slower - it has to be for non-tournaments only - you have some people in tournaments that are limited in the number of tournaments they can play in and pick fast moving tournaments on purpose... slowing down the entire tournament would not be fair to them....
redfrog: I do mean to have a time limit change approval sent to the other opponent for them to decide upon. The issue is sometimes both people want to go faster or both people want to go slower (Ex. vacations coming up, and don't want to use vacation days if possible). It is something that I have personally used at other sites, and know others that have as well. You set a high end time limit that people can't go over. That's pretty much it! I can't really see people complaining about this, either they use it or say no the proposal from their opponent! Most people will talk about it in the game before sending a time limit change proposal anyways!
mctrivia: i think you might find it hard to find someone willing to decrease a time limit... there's normally one person out of the two that would want it going faster...and the other is the reason for it... both might agree to going slower - but i agree that would be bad in tournaments....
Eriisa: I think it would only be changed if both parties agree to it, and I would suggest it to me for non-tournament games only, so 2 people don't stick a 30 day limit on a "fast" tournament and hold others up.
Currently the running players list is ordered by the points left column. Would it be possible to make the column titles clickable and sort the list by the value of last move?
How about a 10 person pond? How about a 5 minute time limit pond? How about being able to move a fellowship game to the main game page when there is not enough interest from the fellowship members? Thanks!
How about having a froglet game where you go diagonally beside horizontal and verticle?
Unique Idea...
Homemade version of froglet:
Using a deluxe scrabble board... 200 tiles coller in the blue, red, yellow, and green... plus the boundary... Very fun...
Eriisa: That sounds reasonable; it'll take quite a time to go from 127 to 20 games!!!
I think it fairer to tell the other guy why I'm not accepting, though.
I cannot accept invites, because I have too many games going.
Would it not be simpler to tell this fact to the player inviting me (and then he need not send out the invitation); save a bit of time and trouble!
I think someone else already posted about this, but I didn't see a reply, so I would still like to know if Fencer is planning to create smaller board size for Ludo, like he has for Amazon, Pente, and others?
gambler104: I was in a tournament were all 4 of us tied for first. I just emedietly created a new one and invited all the first place winners. Would however be nice if the system would keep playing off untill there is only 1.
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it tears at my competitive spirit to know that more than one person could win a tournament. I know the games are just for fun, but it just doesn't seem right to be tied for first. I wish we could change this or at least have an option for tournaments like this.
BIG BAD WOLF:
I spent a lot of time analysing Mastermind and if you think of proper way of assessing someone's skills the best way to assign points for wins is like follow. I call it League Scoring:
First Move guessed correctly - 6 points
Sec MOve guessed correctly 7 points
third - 8 points
fourth - 9 points
fith - 10 points
sixth - 5 points
seventh - 4 points
eight - 3 points
ninth - 2 points
tenth - 1 point
***
This scoring system takes into account difficulty in guessing correctly and eliminates
easy wins in first guess still awarding for it more points than for sith guess which is pass what computer can do for any code. 4.5 moves is
the score computer gets for any code.
First 5 guesses are awarded heavily and than there is steadily decline in points.
What do you think about it ?
The possibility to create more than 1 team per game in the fellowships, so we could create several teams and play internal team matches.
Especially in the one-game-fellowships this would be nice.
joshitm: Fencer doesn't really like to do anti variations of variants. (anti hyper, anti nack, anti reversi 6x6, etc...)
I tried a game of anti hyper and found it not to be fun at all.
You can try it yourself by getting a friend to agree to an unrated, uncounted game of hyper, but play it like it's anti.
Identical to loop chess except when it comes to promoted pieces. When a promoted piece is captured, it reverts back to a pawn. For example: I finally push a pawn and promote it to a queen. My opponent eventually captures my new queen. My opponent is given a pawn (original rank) to drop onto the board.
- (Dutch) translations of the rules of Go
- (Dutch) translations of the rules of the doubling Cube
- An Anti Hyper Gammon variant (Normal anti-Backgammon could be endless)
I like how people can advertise on this website, but one suggestion, make an english advertisement, on the english pages, czech advertisements on the czech pages, and so on. You will be able to allow more advertising to be run without the user losing any of his "market". This will allow multiple (I guess up to 15! Since there are 15 languages at BK!) advertisements to be run at one time, each in their own language they want. It makes no sense for me to see a Czech advertisement... I can't read Czech! An idea for Fencer!
When you do a search in posts, you can afterward click on "show context" of a particular post.
I think it would be good when a "show context" link is added also when you click "show this user posts".
Teema: Re: Komi should be configurable, match standards
Fwiffo: Thank you, I had some trouble finding the Go discussion board, so I just tossed it out here. I'm so happy to have my favorite game on BrainKing!
Teema: Komi should be configurable, match standards
A couple points for komi in Go:
- The standard now is typically 6.5 or 7.5 points
- Most sources claim it should be the same for all sizes of board
- We should be able to configure it, so players can use 5.5 (classic) 6.5 (current Japanese Pro standard) or 7.5 (Chinese, Ing, and AGA standard)
Any chance that Extinction Chess could get a color border like other chess variants.
Without a different color border, it looks like normal chess - and is easy to mess up a game if you don't notice the name of the game - where as a different color border quickly grabs your attention and tells you it is a different game.
Hello all! Great website! I was wondering if I could request that we add the traditional Chinese Chess pieces as an option, in the same way that the traditional Shogi pieces were added. I think this is an important addition, as I get rather confused with the Western Chess pictographs.
