Pedro Martínez: It is a much tamer version. I'm thankful that we are protected on our public radio's and prime time TV, although we have the option of having unedited versions for a price. lol
alilsassy: Well, I have never heard the edited version. Fortunately enough, the hypocrisy when it comes to the “necessity of protecting ourselves from offensive words in songs, nudity on TV, etc” has not reached my part of the world yet…

The Col: Until yesterday I had never heard the "true" version. I was listening to the radio, and as many times over the past week, this song played again. I thought I would share it, but when I clicked & posted the wrong youtube link I then discovered there was a more crude version. Yes, it does change the meaning when words are changed...but I prefer the radio version. And to most songwriters, I think they would be ecstatic to just know their song made it to the top, even with a few adjustments long the way.
alilsassy: The edited versions usually rip the soul out of the song.Art is art, intent is all that matters. If a songwriter is (for example) trying to describe "hell" ,substituting the word "heck" destroys the essence of the messege.Pornography isn't the naked figure, it's children starving.
I would like to apologize for the video I posted earlier today. When I went to YouTube to link it, I clicked on the "official song". I wasn't aware their were two versions of this particular song. I was assuming (incorrectly) it was the same song we had been listening to. Again, I'm sorry...I will be much more careful in the future.
"Please note - ANY material posted here deemed offensive or plagiarized will be removed immediately." ... you know swearing on public boards is not allowed.
Plus when it comes to songs with swearing in them they usually do two versions. One with the words for CD's, one tamed up for the radio with alternative words used.
Tuesday: He wrote it, it was a minor hit in Canada.Tom Rush built his career on it in the USA.The Canadian music industry was pretty lame back when he released it, it should have got airplay in the states, but Murray probably did ok with the writers royalties
Tuesday: I think we all get the urge to visit the places we grew up at some point, I know I have, but never went inside. We moved often when I was a kid,I've always envied people who lived most of their childhood in the same house
