Backoff: It took me about 10 seconds into it to guess what was going to happen. The whole time, flashbacks of when I was 16/17, stuck in mud up to the doors on the side of a country road - not wanting to call my parents to help get me out.
Luckly someone lived near by and he STRONGLY recommended us digging in the mud to get to the read axil and not tie it onto something simple like the bumber - otherwise for how stuck i was, the same would have happened to us.
Carwash got a lot of my busnisness after getting unstuck.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm no expert) but I have a feeling that this guy's problem was that he engaged the gear (reverse) when the truck tried to pull him out of there. If he shifted to neutral instead, it could go "more smoothly", in my opinion...:)
Pedro Martínez: would not have made a difference, that car is front wheel drive and that may have helped alittle. I would have spun it sideways first to clear a path then gently pulled it out.
BIG BAD WOLF LOL As a tow truck driver, I can only point out the fact that I would have charged that guy around $100 to pull his car out damage free. His "buddy" just ripped his whole trunk off for free. Who would you call lol.
Well I got my truck back from the dealer yesterday. I got to tell you I've getting where I'm starting to hate Fords. My truck is an 05 F-450 with the 6.0 Powerstroke and it spends more time at the dealer than on the road.
3 trannys
2 water pumps
1 belt tensioner
2 drive belts
3 times A/C problems including the first day I had the thing
2 hold-off valves (wrecker body, not fords fault, but I'll put it in anyway)
3 sets of tires
misc other crap I could spend days posting.
bwildman: lol. The company I work for has 28 trucks. We have 2 full time techs. Every thing gets PM at least once a month. They bring truck 1 in, service it for a full day (oil change, lube [there's about 70 different grease fittings on the average wrecker], test all the fulids, and check over 100 different points. Then we have a guy that washes and waxes it. The next day truck 2 comes in and so on and so for. My truck gets washed at least 3 times a week. Every time I wash it, I check out just about everything that can be checked lol. That truck is how I make my money and if it breaks, it hits me in the pocket so I try to keep it in good shape. I keep the inside looking the best I can (not hard seeing as how I only get out of it to get coffee ). I love the self-loading wheel lift for what I do all night. Just the ford chassis needs some help.....
tazman7474: These are slightly fettled road cars. I run 98ron fuel, I could use octane booster etc, but then thats not the car itself. I've added cold air intake, and also water spray for the intercooler too recently. Hence even though where the car is sick and lost 20bhp peek :o( its still up 5LBFt in torque. The boost isnt consistent, and tails off after 5000rpm ( this is where tha power is being lost obviously) . So got to get that sorted out, then will look at raising the boost.
Stevie: does your engine have adjustable valves?
Also...exhaust can be a major factor..doyou Brits use catalytic converters?
what goes in..must be able to come out.
bwildman:It had 2 Cat's,,, they gone, and on this you gain 25bhp ( not sure of torque) just by removing these ( hence ask Jules how loud it is LOL its not road legal but who cares LOL). another 20 bhp etc can be gained by fitting equal length exhaust headers as it is a flat four boxer engine. But i like the sound as it is LOL And being turbo'd it doesnt really matter about the lack of back pressure LOL
its quad cam, they are all standard. All ive changed internally is when i blew it up last year it had an open deck block, so now Ive used closed deck block and it has uprated rods and pistons.
bwildman: Stupid truck went back to the dealer again today, overheating again. Just got it back 2 days ago. They replaced the water pump and fan clutch. Same problem again.
tazman7474: hey taz.. any ideas you can give me here.. would be great..
91 Dodge Dynasty.. tail lights and the Dashlights are gone.. checked the fuses.. they are fine.. checked and replaced bulbs.. that isn't it..
When I drive with headlights on.. about 6 miles.. the headlamps go off.. I have to use the column shift to get lights to work .. ?? What do you suggest I do??
and NO.. I can't buy another car.. I am a student and single mom.. haha..
ScarletRose: sounds like something thermal problem and warms up to me over time then fails,as the fuses and bulbs are ok etc, most likely the relay for the lights. but could also be in the switch also. Do you know anyone with same vehicle that you can swap parts to narrow down the fault?
