Teema: Re: How do the ponds work for point? How does it move to make a move?
McduellMUG: the moves are determined by the time limit, the game you are in has a 7 day time limit so a move will be made every 7 days from the start of it at which time lowest bid in each round will "fall in" which means "be done for that game". As far as points(BKR), It's never been fully explained, but its kind of like averaging wins from everybody that has fallen in before you against losses to everybody you have fallen in before, but more complicated.

All points will be calculated after the first 100th pond is complete, and top 30 will be listed on the fellowship and pond discussion board for the next (Brainking T Shirt prize) Back to the list of ponds
Pond type: Run around the pond Pond ID: 2599 Minimum number of players: 16 Maximum number of players: 16 Time per move: 2 days Start: 23. July 2006, 06:00:00 Current round number: 9 Current round deadline: 19. August 2006, 12:00:09 Time left: 1 day 23 hours
If I am away on vacation, I can usually get on to the Internet about once a week. Therefore, creating Ponds with 7 day time limits makes a lot of sense to me. There is nothing more frustrating than having to drop out of a Pond because you cannot get on-line.
If we had enough 7 day Ponds, then they would pop up with the same frequency as 1 day Ponds!
What do you guys think?
Pedro Martínez: yesterday I was number 7 on the list and ahead of you LOLOL....didnt last long came 7th in a pond and it put me in 12th place ROFL...
as an aside...my suggestion would be that once you become a pawn, you are put on a temporary "listing" and if you do not pay your membership within 10 days you should be dropped from all ponds games/ratings.....any thoughts on this????
I feel, as a pawn, that it would be good for pawns to be allowed into a pond. I am excited about the chance to play, but at the same time pawns don't always know what to do in a pond. So you could consider a "pawn pond" for them to try out in. Some pawns might like the game a lot! This would make one more reason for a pawn to want to become a knight or a rook, so they can play more ponds. That means more revenue for BK when the pawn is "promoted"... :-)
Mr. Shumway: 20 games vs. 50 games. I would think that a pawn wouldn't burn more than 3 or 4 on ponds, just curious, how many do you play as a knight with that limit?
Czuch Chuckers: LOL.. you have a very good point there. Unless part of the new feature is that it is made clear that pawns will NOT be taken out of ponds early. That they will have to wait until the ponds end. No exceptions.
BIG BAD WOLF: But then fencer wil be inundated with requests to remove them from a game as soon as they fall into the pond! We dont need to make fencer grumpy ;)
BIG BAD WOLF: I have proposed another idea to Fencer: allow a limited participation of pawns, say a pond or three at a time. He said he'd think about it.
I hate waiting. I'd like to see Ponds advance when all players have submitted their bids.
I'd also like to see a version where (if there are more than a certain number of players, say 10 or 20) the last person to bid falls. This would encourage fast play. Or better yet, a -500 penalty for the last bidder. That's an even better idea. ;-)
