(11. november 2008, 12:34:25) Europe can be a strange place. My grandfather, in the German imperial army, died somewhere on what was called the western front, winning a posthumous iron cross. I still have it. His daughter, my mother was later kicked out of the country as a non-member of the human race, luckily for her (and me), because a short time afterwards they had other ideas for disposing of our people.
I have now been happily married for 28 years to a woman of the enemy country of that granddad. One of her grandparents survived Verdun, fighting on the other side.
One day our children will carry passports marked simply "European".
