Fencer: with 2 points per board once an hour , even if 10 different boards have new messages every hour and if someone stays up 24 hours to read all 10 boards every hour , that totals to 2 X 10 X 24 = 480 and ofcoarse no one can be here 24 hours at least no day by day. since its summer holidays , ive been here 15 - 16 hours daily and reading boards every hour and the max points i got were 200 something. kotDB has openly said that there is a bug and hes making points to prove it but besides that there are other people now who have 400+ points for boards per day ..i noticed 2 - 3 , sahar , the lamer and peca. my question is can we get rid of points for boards so that evryone gets points for making moves. that way i think there will be no cheating.

What happens if a Rook membership expires during the period of the contest, for instance on the 29. of July, and the member becomes a Pawn? Does he compete with the other Pawns?

Well I worked out how he is doing it by following his actions.

He is just simply going to a url and then increasing the number by 1 each time. I did this a few times and it is amazing what boards you see that normally you cannot.

Just try this, go to the following links

http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=109
http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=110
http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=111
http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=112
http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=113
http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=114

etc etc, go down 1 by 1 or go up 1 by 1. I would suggest going down but I havent tried it all the way.

I've been here a while. Really enjoy it. Like the "unlimited" moves for even non-paying members. That seems fair.

Fencer July Action 2006/06/30, 17:01:09
Modified by Fencer (2006/07/01, 00:46:13)
1) Good news! Thanks to Eriisa we could reactivate the PayPal option, so there are no more problems to use PayPal for any payments on BrainKing.

2) July Action! Let us try something different this month. In order to test what our site is capable of (and to give our users another chance to compete), July is the Month of Action Points. If this test period produces good results, the system of points can continue in the following months as well. And let us start with some attractive prizes:
1. place: 3 years Brain Rook membership
2. - 3. place: 2 years Brain Rook membership
4. - 5. place: 1 year Brain Rook membership
6. - 10. place: 200 Brains
Please read the rules and other information here. As you can see, the system works separately for paying members and pawns, which means there will be 20 prizes to award. It is also possible to give the prize to another user if you win and do not want to use it.
And, of course, suggestions to improve this system are welcome.

On the first day of this action I went to every single DB, since then I just counted about 90 boards that have not been posted to since that time. Like PB said, there are only so many boards with any action on them.... so even if you have 20 boards with action every hour and you check them every hour for 24 hours straight, that is still only 960 points!

2. July 2006, 09:51:05

Fencer: How can that be correct? The vast majority of the boards haven't been posted to and you can only get 2 points per board per hour. GC, BK, Birthdays, Music, Jokes, and a small handful of others have been posted to. I'd guess 15, maybe 20 boards at a maximum, but some of these have only been posted to one or twice all day, though others like GC and BK usually get something per hour. In 9 hours there's no way that these few boards can provide 1200 points.

To anyone who may be wondering:

* Yes, there is a bug which affects the July Action (or there was when I wrote this).

* Yes, most of my board points are the result of this bug.

* No, I am not attempting to cheat. Even if the bug remains unfixed and I finish among the top ten, I will not accept a prize as long as I have any such unearned points.

KotDB: The database says you have visited 121 boards. That makes, multiplied by 2, 242 points. Not a bug.
