Kinda like driving to a certain city on a certain route and it's congested. Others taking a different route go the speed limit. ;)

BrainKing "GLICH"

When I move in backgammon (if I am losing) the opponent moves show up immediately. "If I am winning it takes days for their moves to show up."

Is this glitch only in Backgammon? :)

AtomicGuy: But you can enter a tournament as a pawn. Just go to the Tournaments section and select one.

As a pawn you can enter only one at a time and you cannot create them but you can still have some of the fun ;)

AbigailII: Sorry to see you leave & hopefully you'll change your mind..I have posted topics on boards at times w/o thinking which board I was suppose to post on....I did leave for quite awhile due to computer & other players problems & just started playing here again. Sure did miss playing here. All moderators has a job which is tough & surely fair to all. If everyone left due to 1 problem or another, there wouldn't be a so-called "safe" site on the web which everyone gets along w/ each other. Please re-consider & enjoy playing the games. Thanks for reading

As moderator there a number of issues which come up which may or may not belong on a particular board. Sometimes off-topic discussions can be fruitful and I am always willing to read and follow these, even allowing them to remain if they make a positive contribution to the site.

In the case which has recently been discussed here the posts were not on-topic for the board and the ongoing discussion was not contributing to the well-being or edification of 8x8 Chess Variant players. While some posts were clearly expressing individual opinions (to be admired) some were couched in a somewhat devisive idiom ... when this trait began to arise ALL posts on the subject were deleted and a general comment pointing to the stated aims of the board was posted.

Subsequent posts containing personal attacks and veiled threats were deleted immediately.

I stand by the "moderating" which I have done ... I have, I believe, acted in the best interests of the site and not because of any personal biases, and I would hope that all would see that my actions have been impartial and that all have been treated equally regardless of whichever side of the fence they may reside.

I have said to AbigailII personally and now reiterate it publicly ... I would encourage her to stay here and play her games, run her tournaments, and continue to contribute to discussion groups in a positive, constructive and instructive manner. BrainKing is a community of individuals with a wide range of opinions, but in all our actions we need to remember to be a strong community we need to build ourselves up not tear each other down.

Regards ... WhisperzQ

AbigailII: Sorry to see you leave. But what you have to remember, and this applys to all discussion boards and all users - posting "off topic" and there is always a risk that messages will be removed.

In my opinion, a post about a tournament of a chess game is on topic on a chess discussion board. A post about what type of messages should be allowed in certain discussion boards is off topic on a chess board. Again, my opinion.

Anyway, this site is about the games - and it is always sad when someone lets things from message boards or private message mess up their game playing experience - which is what the whole purpose of this site is for. The discussion boards are a "bonus", and sad that some people let things that happen there get to them. I hope when you have time to "cool down" you will see this and continue to play on this site.

Its not always possible to message first. Ideally yes, thats what most mods would like to do. But in some situations its better to remove the post then message afterwards if its likely to cause a big off-topic discussion. Like this one for example! Abigail has brought a private matter to a board where it isn't really 'on topic'. But there have been so many replies to it in a fairly short time that to delete it all would be wrong, especially when its drifted 'on topic' (if mods should remove a post or ask the author to remove it).
But different mods deal with things in different ways too, and each post is acted on differently depending what it says.
