Subject: Moderator's toolbox need
How's 'bout being able to have certain people's posts require approval and everyone else's be posted? I now I could've used such a feature a few days back. Though such a thing would probably be ripe for abuse in the wrong hands too. It'd still be better than banning someone and deleting their posts.

he has a point though, it is ridiculous theat Stevie and his puppet Rose are moderating a BK board. All public boards should be moderated by impartial moderators and we all know that they are NOT impartial

"This is a BK issue and therefore belongs on this boards"

Kinda hard to have a discussion that way LOL
Why not just ban the offenders instead of making everybody pay for their indiscretions.

When I have posted something unfit for print, I get banned, the whole board does not suffer.

They are held until a moderator comes on and either approves them or deletes them.

If you want, I will moderate that one :)

I want to know how you can have a public board where all posts must be approved, yet there is no one online to approve them?

Ok, enough! This is the BK board, not the General Arguments and Aggrivation Board.

Yes, the fellowship is listed, but the board only has a link if there is a new message. Sometimes I want to post to a fellowship board when there is no new messages, and in that case there is no direct link to the board from our main page.

The Fellowships are listed in red numbers next to the Fellowship board under boards. You do not need to add them since they are automatically there.......

i was off site for 3 days (last wed to saturday)...no auto vacation kicked in for me?..i timed out in 21 games ;o(

1. November 2004, 14:19:05
LongJohn
I thought it was like that, the puzzling thing to me though is that if someones timeout triggers it and there was another game to time out an hour later, I would have expected the game with an hour to immediately change to 25 hours since the vacation day has already been marked. Instead, the system still lets the 1 hour to go game run down and then bops it up by 24 hours.
This is good but unexpected

1. November 2004, 14:03:39
Fencer
The system checks for the normal vacation first. If the day is not marked as a vacation or weekend, it tries to use the auto vacation.
It means that once the day is marked by the auto vacation feature, it is a normal vacation for the rest of games.

Subject: Auto Vacation
how does the auto vacation thing work for mutiple timeouts.
ie If my game with klokan is about to time out now, and then does but his auto vacation kicks in and extends the game length by a day, does it subtract one day vacation off his remaining total?
If so (I assume it must) what happens to the next person on the list 1 hour laters whos game times out with Klokan and then gets extended? Surely the system wouldnt charge him 2 days for the extension. but I have noticed in all cases that the system will always wait for the time to drop to minus time before extending.

Can you shed some light on how this works Fencer?

Note that I am Pro auto vacations and this is by no means a complaint, but it would just be so handy to see how many vacation days left someone has. I think this should be publicly viewable as it is not private information and effects no one.

Thanks

My point is that deleting his posts doesnt help..banning for at least 1 month or its the same soon again.

Andersp, its not very often that we go SO off topic, and its not every day that I have to delete posts. Its unfortunate that its halloween, I've been out with children 'trick or treating' so I wasn't here like I usually would have been. We do our best to keep this board clean and on topic :o)

I'm deleting all off topics now, IM. Applied evenly I hope.

31. October 2004, 21:40:12

It seems that being "off topic" and "personal attack" are good reasons to delete a post. But they are not applied evenly to all posters.

I suggest a safe way to use discretion when moderating, and not come accross like a hypocrit, is to simply say that you are removing a post due to your discretion, and quit using the PC friendly "off topic" etc, cause once you post that as a reason for one removal, it technically must apply to all. So sad :(
