IMupChucKingC, Its just one point in the user agreement that hasn't been fully explained. Wait for BK2 and I imagine it will be corrected along with a lot of other things.

I want to know why the user agreement is not valid?
What is up with that?
Haven't people been banned and removed and such, for breaking the user agreement?
How was anyone supposed to know that it was not valid?
Can anyone help me understand what the ... is going on here?

I think there's been some beta testing going on. Most of the gliches/bugs should be gone by the time we see the finished product.

life is to short and that it can be hard to run a site. Cause what 1 person thinks may be gr8888t other may think they are not thinking in their right mind. If we all start jumping on the site head people there would not be much to saying we don't need this any more and just pull the plug and if that is done we all lose out of this gr888t and fun site. With BK2.0 starting up soon as we have heard over and over again. Can't we at least give it some time before we start fighting about it. Well this is about all I have to say for now so BACK to my CORNER I go.

I'm sure the user agreement was adequate when this site was first launched. However, things grow and change, and since BrainKing was first born there have been some quite drastic changes! I don't think even Fencer could have predicted the growth direction. He did say right at the start that genuine playing couples would be allowed, no problems. Its single people pretending to be a couple so they can have more than one account that the user agreement seems to be directed at.
Everything is subject to change, and I daresay Fencer has had more important things to do than examine old user agreements to make sure its up to date. Obviously now it needs amending.

could not understand why Fencer would post his "User Agreement"....if ***** Did I ever make an official announcement about User Agreement? Of course not. It is not finished*****

Why post an unfinished article??? in my mind it is asking for critique of same....

I do web graphics for people that cant make their own...it is a business based site (I dont make money heheheh)BUT I would never thing of putting up 1/2 a page toady and the other 1/2 in a week or more.

Your User agreement should be THE FIRST thing to be posted in its entirety.
After all webmistresses/masters expect their conditions to be adherred to...don't Game site Hosts expect the same, and if you dont....why bother putting them up for all to see and YOU Fencer have actually started the PANIC not the other way round:(

The only thing I have seen as obvious lately is the banning of a few from the boards while others get away with worse.

Don't let her stand in the cold..

She has said so much more.. Why don't you make some coffee and eat some breakfast (its morning over there, i know) and then read through the lines and give it your fully attention and let her know you understand why she wrote this... We all know you work hard to get it all done; but don't blow this site away by only saying you don't have the time to not listen to people's concerns..

Thank you,

You have a good thing going, don't let others blow what you have worked so hard to build.
That's right. I won't. Who doesn't want to believe me, doesn't have to. But it should be obvious to everyone that not everything can be done immediately, especially as a part time job.
Once more - give me one week. Or continue wasting my time asking the same questions over and over and it won't take a week, it will be another month.

I very seldom comment on how things are run here. I used to love this place. Fun fun fun.....
People made suggestions and you were always polite in your answers.
Something changed. I don't know if it was money related or what. But people will speculate.
You change user agreements and wonder why people question?
It's like making a post. If you don't want comments on it, save it until you do.
A lot of unfair things have been going on at this site IMO and it's wrong. This is your site, run it anyway you want but keep in mind word of mouth goes a long way. Keep the ones you have and strive for more don't run them off.
If someone that plays here pays $1 or $100 they should be treated them same. Not I like you better or you give more.
A prime example is Wal-mart stores they're booming because a dollar is just that a dollar. A customer should be a customer.
I'm glad they feel that way, I have stock.
Cheating is rampant here among other things but MY biggest problem is with customer service. NEVER and I mean never would I tolerate one of my CS people being rude to a customer.
I know there maybe a language barrier on a few things but the majority of people here would help.
If someone here has a problem with something it ought to be addressed with out the risk of being banned for stating an opinion becaused someone didn't like you. You have a good thing going, don't let others blow what you have worked so hard to build.

Andersp - (again my opinion) there is no difference as long as you are not trying to "cheat" the system. There have been people on here who would create multiply accounts (even get them memberships!), play against those "dummy" accounts and purposly lose so their main account can gain more rating points.

(in my opinion) as long as you play a person from the same computer without trying to cheat the system, it won't be a problem.

Absolutely and totally true BBW!! : "Anyway, that is what I think the User Agreements is there for - the people who are playing "dummy" accounts with them selfs just to cheat the system - and those are the people who need to be delt with.

If i play 25 games with a girlfriend/boyfriend/grandmother 100 miles away or if i play my wife because we live in the same house.. whats the difference?.

Subject: Re:
Thanks for those words! I feel the same way. Is it criminal that no matter what games you play (beit rating or unrated games) that husbands and wives can't enjoy playing? What is going on here. Is there some kind of reason why this is comming up now? Why can't people just play, get along and stop all of the foolishness. Just get along and have fun PLEASE! The people that pay and play on this site support this site. At least that is what I thought!

30. May 2004, 03:18:53
coan.net
Andersp - I think the big difference are with people who play with "themselfs" in an attempt to better their ratings. Even though I have not looked at your games with Antje, but if you play for fun like I believe you two do, then it is obvious that it is not for cheating purposes (since you both have plenty of wins/loses with each other).

Anyway, that is what I think the User Agreements is there for - the people who are playing "dummy" accounts with them selfs just to cheat the system - and those are the people who need to be delt with.

I suppose that Antje and i are very "criminal" according to BBWs "rules". We have played 159 (Antjes wins) + 94 (my wins) games of backgammon
against each other. Now we have about 25 games running. Antjes rating is 2000+ and mine 1900+ .

We apologize being so selfish so we think its fun to play each other.

30. May 2004, 03:06:02
mywayrthehiway
Thanks for your thoughts BBW! Within the year and half that my husband and I have played on this site we may have played 4 maybe 5 games total. As for as trying to cheat the ratings, I wouldn't even know how to. Don't care to cheat and it would be a shame if there is someone out there that is trying to do that! The funny part of playing against my husband is I have beat him in a few games and all we do is laugh about it! That is the fun of the game, not trying to cheat the rating system.

I agree with you totally! What is wrong for husbands and wives to play together on the same pc at home, having paid themselves for their own membership and having fun at BK!?

I think the focus should be at those who are sitting there alone and having a number of multinics!

How to find out who is who? Perhaps via a special registration tool, secure privacy tool or a technical solution on the server? I don't know, but alOt has to do with trust and fair play, I think..

30. May 2004, 02:58:18
coan.net
Even though I have not talked to Fencer, I can almost say I'm 99% sure if you play someone in the same household will not be a problem unless you are purposely trying to cheat the rating system. (So if you start playing 2-3 games with someone in the same household a day, then it might start being a problem.) And if that is the case, I would then recommend you always play unrated games with each other. Again, just my thoughts.

30. May 2004, 02:51:36
mywayrthehiway
I try not to complain about this site as my husband and I both like playing on it. I have read a few of the messages on here and notice there is some talk about family members playing on this site. First of all, ratings/rankings do not matter to either myself or my husband. We play for fun just as Antje and Ms.Delete said. I use to play on IYT and I did not like it there. The owner of the site was rude and some of the players there were not very nice either. A member from IYT got my husband and I on to this site and we like it very much. We pay our membership dues just as others on this site. There are times that I sign up for tournaments just as my husband does and we may get placed together and we may not. If there is going to start being a problem with husbands and wives playing on this site even though they are paying members and occasionally play against each other then I will make sure that I will not play on this site any more in order for my husband to be able to play. He enjoys the games here as do I but I would rather him play then me. I feel that if this rule is enforced there will be a lot of people dropping out and I don't think Fencer and/or Liquid could afford for that to happen!
