when the system is down, it sometimes is possible to go to "Ratings" and call up your name. you can find recent moves made by an opponent, though you can't respond.

Well, we want to run it until the new hardware is purchased and placed on-line. Please don't be alarmed if new.brainking.com is occasionally down - it means that Liquid is tuning the load balancer or installing some additional tools.

I have gotten a couple of downtime messages though. I think I've been on the new one all day?

I guess new and old going by what Aragon told me are 2 doors into the site, rather than its another site, one faster than the other. If you only told the members the new door addy new.brainking and told pawns they could know the new addy if they upgraded :o)

11. November 2003, 20:40:18
Fencer
What did you mean, then? :-)

11. November 2003, 20:36:08

As I already wrote, it cannot be done immediately. But it is planned, of course.

You don't have to post absolute URLs, use relative ones instead. Something like this board. Then it will work everywhere.

11. November 2003, 18:43:19
coan.net
When you make a link to somewhere else inside BrainKing, you should always try to use the "short" version.

For example, this will bring people to the BrainKing.com discussion board (and will work for people using the "new.brainking.com, "www.brainking.com", AND "brainking.com")

<A.HREF="/game/Board?bc=1"> LINK <./A>

Making links now within BrianKing sometimes won't work, unless they have an option for both systems currenty running!!

Example, I was in on the new system and pasted some links I had sone on the old one to some tournaments, it chucks you to the main log-in page of the old system then :)

Just incase some of you click them and think they ain't working LOL

Yeah, Aragon's blue! *smack around the head for stating the obvious. Like we didn't know* :o)

bumble: Although I agree with you, it is not possible at the moment. The new version of BrainKing will support redirecting paying members to the faster server automatically.

11. November 2003, 14:21:26
MidnightMcMedic
But it makes sense, as scarey as that is!

11. November 2003, 14:17:27
bumble
Fencer: Does the 'new' brainking kick in automatically when the 'original' brainking is getting full?

I was thinking (always dangerous) that if members were to use the 'new' one and pawns were to use the 'old' one, would that help lighten the load, or more evenly distribute the traffic. A link to the 'new' bk could then be put on the 'members only' board.

I know, I know.... I admit it! I haven't a clue about computers and servers and stuff.

Don't know if its just me? But I have both running, when the original gets booted so does the new??? Although it comes back quicker

11. November 2003, 10:23:19
Fencer
I don't guarantee that it will be faster forever. It still needs some tuning :-)
