You are not allowed to post messages to this board. Minimum level of membership required for posting on this board is Brain Knight.
Czuch Chuckers: Even though this is probable not the best board, the "so as not to corrupt the whole site" that you were once told was followed by a smile face, which is also a way to be sarcastic. You posted with foul language, a global moderator seen it first and hide it, and left the rest up to the main moderator to take care of - it was a simple issue to that point.
Yes, all foul language will be removed from the public boards. Off topic and such will at times be allowed to stray, but foul language will always be removed/hidden as soon as possible.
ellieoop: Only the weekend days (normally Saturday & Sunday) can be changed every 30 days - I think you can change your vacation days around whenever.... well as long as the date has not passed.
For the smileys, In Settings, JavaScript page - change "Activate interactive smiley window:" from "on mouse over" TO: "on mouse click" That way you can click on the smiley for it to come up, rather then accedently pass your mouse over the list where they all come up, and sometimes have to click to make them go away.
kleineme: I was told at one time that a final round with 2 people, the resign of game with no moves also count against BKR's - since this was a single elimination tournament, maybe that had something to do with it?
basplund: I had the same problem earlier - then after a few minutes of messing around, it started to work like it is suppose to - with no more problems.
Niki: The link button will just bring up that one message, and while doing that - you will be able to see what the URL/Link directly to the post is - which is usefull sometimes when you want others to go look at one post, without having them scroll though a lot of things. (Will not hurt anything if you click & try it)
Rose: You can disable the function (like Walter mentioned)
You can also open a link in a new window other ways depending on what browser you are using. For example, in Firefox, you can hold down SHIFT and click on a link to open it in a new windows. In IE, I believe you hold down CTRL and click on a link to open it in a new window.
Walter Montego: Yea, I already had to stop for a second because I needed to open something in a new window (not a new tab which my middle mouse/wheel button does), but then I remembered in Firefox, if you hold down SHIFT and click, it will open in a new window. (CTRL and click will open in new tab). In Internet Explore, I think CTRL opens something in a new window.
Pedro Martínez: Yea, I did that. Checked out the site with Internet Explorer and that feature worked.
Have the site open in the newest Firefox, and nothing - it's like my right button does not work on BrainKing.
Using the right button on other open tabs gives me the normal (Back, Reload, save...) But for some reason just brings up nothing while I'm using firefox.
BIG BAD WOLF: Oh, nevermind - I know why it is not working - in Firefox I have my mouse buttons set to do different things. (Middle to open in new window.)
May go reset the right button to do this - could help me to have a quick way to view all discussion boards, already expanded.
pauloaguia: Because a pawn is only allowed to be in 1 stair at a time, so if someones membership drops, they may be removed from some stairs to get them to the 1 stair limit.
Pbarb2: I'm almost positive that if you win it will still count and you will move up a step (or down a step if you lose) - just that it will not be shown to everyone else since you are on retirement.
Plus again almost positive that you can be on retirement forever (well as long as you stay a rook)
Vikings: That was me - I actually replied to those 2 very old post (from 2002) just to see if it worked with post from way back then. (one of the first on the board) :-)
Subject: Re: Please hold any questions about bumble at this time. It is a difficult time. Thank you for your consideration.
ScarletRose: "It's a shame that you were led to believe they were all something they are not.."
I've never said I do or do not believe what has been said, what I have said is that it is really no one's business - who am I to demand information about someone's private life? This is an on-line game site, on-line being the key word - if someone does not want to give too much personal inforamatin about themsleves, then that is their right - to hound them to give personal information about themselves is border-line stalking.
Subject: Re: Please hold any questions about bumble at this time. It is a difficult time. Thank you for your consideration.
Tuesday: Wasn't "hushed", was pointed to other places so it does not take up a ton of room on the public board like all this is doing right now. Czuch has done what he wanted, and has caused more of a ruckas on this board.
Public mobs are not a good thing, no matter if you are part of the mob, the one being mobbed, or just watching the mob from the sideline.
Subject: Re: Please hold any questions about bumble at this time. It is a difficult time. Thank you for your consideration.
ScarletRose: First you need to learn the difference between a rumor and a fact. So far it is a rumor that all these people are the same person. Fencer can see this information, and I'm sure he does keep track - and would not allow players on this site to be taken advantage of by people cheating. It looks like you are being swept up with rumors, and just because there are not any facts to counter these rumors does not make them true.
Subject: Re: Please hold any questions about bumble at this time. It is a difficult time. Thank you for your consideration.
Czuch Chuckers: What are you talking about? I said take it to private weeks ago, the only things I've been doing now is replying to your PUBLIC posts. If you don't want a reply, then do not post. A third grader could tell you that.
Subject: Re: Please hold any questions about bumble at this time. It is a difficult time. Thank you for your consideration.
Czuch Chuckers: Excuse me, you brought it to the public board, not me. Feel free to delete any of your post and will be happy to continue the conversation in private, as long as you promise not to start stalking me also because you feel like you need to be in other peoples business.
Subject: Re: Please hold any questions about bumble at this time. It is a difficult time. Thank you for your consideration.
ScarletRose: Good point, and once the KM was proven to be cheating on the site and such, Fencer took care of it. Witchhunts by users do not do anything but cause more problems.
Subject: Re: Please hold any questions about bumble at this time. It is a difficult time. Thank you for your consideration.
Czuch Chuckers: Again, even if a rumor is true, why does it matter to you. If you or anyone think that a multi-nick is doing something wrong on this site, you should report it to Fencer (in PM) and let him look at the facts and let him be they jury & judge on the issue. For users to go on thier own mob-like investigation does nothing but make themselves and the site look bad, and worse - if the rumor ends up not being true - tarnishing the name of an innocent, and worse (which makes you very low) - the name of an innocent of someone who can no longer reply to the rumors. Let Fencer handle it - if anything is wrong, let him take care of his site.

Czuch Chuckers: Thought this was a game site, not a "soap opera" - let it go, play your games, and stop worring about everybody elses busieness and worry about your own. That is my best advise on this and all similar situations.
to continue to bring it up is not "clearing the air", it is a way for a trouble maker to continue to try to cause trouble.
WizardII: It's a private game so I can't see it, but would suggest to also make sure that you were not placed in check-mate which would also end the game.
Walter Montego: Could things be changes for the beter? The answer to that is probable always.
But for how things are now, a solution already in place is the fellowship boards. There are many fellowships which are open to just about any knight or rook to join, and have warnings placed right in the description that it is for more non-family talk. There are at least a couple that are for any type of discussion, and I believe a couple that are around just for non-family type jokes which some may be offended by on the public boards.
As far as I know, those fellowship will accept just about anyone as long as they do not get offended easly.
There are already boards set up where a person can post offending & non-family type stuff, they are called fellowship boards. On those boards, the BIG BOSS can decide what stays and goes, with a few boards already set up for just about anything to be on-topic.
rod03801: Well actually the Paid Membership page will only show you new memberships, and not any renewals of current members, so it is only goot at counting new members (or at least from pawn to knight/rook memberships)
Bry: Well I would hate to see a rule in place where if I'm between the choices of (1) Login on and getting a little caught up or (2) don't log on at all and get further behind - I would hate to see a rule which forces option 2 of people.
having said that, if something was put into place, I have plenty of other sites I can visit during those times - but would hate to be forced to do that.
Stevie: I would hate to see a restriction of not being able to use vacation days if someone is on-line. I know for example when I go on vacation to my sister-in-law's house, all they have is a VERY slow dial up connection available from their house - in which I get board there and do get on-line, and try to come here to check messages and such - but would almost be impossible for me to keep up with my games, hence a vacation day. if a restriction like that is put into place, it would stop me from even being able to check in and at least stay caught up with my messages.
tenuki: There are also many tournament options which do not use vacations, so those might also be a good choice to avoid people who take advantage of them.
It has been suggested, and I was thinking Fencer liked the idea of possible having a limit of 5 automatic vacation days being taken in one span. (A person going on vacation can choose more then 5 days, but would only stop the auto-vacations from being used for more then 5 days).
Walter Montego: Sorry for the confusion Walter, it was emmett's post after yours that mentioned a boycott. I think your message is very well writen and I agree with many of the points. Just disagreed with the now deleted post about enouraging others to boycott, which I think is over the line of what is needed.
Czuch Chuckers: The post in question is now gone so I don't feel I have anything else to add to this conversation. I think what Walter said below was good enough to stand on it's own. If you want to continue or have questions, feel free to send me a PM.

Czuch Chuckers: If a person wants to boycott by not playing in it is a great idea. Like I said, if you do not like it - don't play them.
To offer your opinion like Walter did below is also good - I'm sure Fencer is glad to hear everyones opinion (he just may not necessarly agree with them all)
But to encourage others is the part that I disagree with. The new system takes nothing away from what people were playing on this site, so I don't see why anyone would want to encourage other to not use the system just because they do not like it.
Added note: there was a message from emmett saying he was going to encourage others to boycott which is now not on the board - sorry if what I'm saying now does not make too much sense.
emmett: Why encourage people to boycott - the simply thing to do is if you do not like it is don't play those tournaments. Fencer has changed no other tournament, or removed anything so it is not like anything was taken away - just a new way to play, and if you do not like something, why encourage people to boycott it - Seems more simple to just not play those types of tournaments.
alanback: You can go to the player list ( http://brainking.com/en/PlayerList?a=ap ), sort by level type - the "black rook's are mixed in with the regular ones.
If you find someone abusing the waiting room, the best bet is to let Fencer know in a private PM who it is and what they are doing. I'm not sure, but it may be possible that Fencer could block the waiting room from people who abuse it.
(NOTE: Private PM, not posted here in public please.) :-)
Stevie: Not a problem for me since I'm only in 4+ day ponds, but i could see where some would have a problem with (for example) a 1 day pond where they did not have any chance to make a move.
I can remember awhile back when there were site problems, ponds were stopped - kind of surprised they were also not help up for an extra day this time also.
TexasToest: Yes, you can set up a tournament with a start date with a long time from now. Then when you MANUALLY look and see that it is filled up like you want, you can MANUALY edit the start date to now and start the tournament that way.
Czuch Chuckers: I believe for site holidays, the time out function is just turned off. So games still count down, and I believe go into negative time - and then once the site is off of it's site holiday, any game with below 0 will be timed out.
If I understand correctly, even games marked as "no days off" will also not time out during this time.
ScarletRose: Like Princess Alison said, if you change the UserID to your mom's, it should go to here.
Plus during the PayPal process, there are places for "notes" - you can repeat what you want there just to make sure - since they will see the notes along with the payment.
lovelysharon: I've set my clock on BrainKing to be the same as the server/Fencer times (GMT +01:00) - that way I can easly see when the new server day will start. (If I need to know what time it is where I'm at, I can look at my clock on the wall) :-)
lovelysharon: As soon as an auto-vacation day is taken, it applys to the rest of the day. (Server/Fencer time)
So if one game uses the auto-vacation, it does not automaticly add 24 hours to all other games, but if they time out on the same day, it uses the same auto-vacation day.
Here in the USA, 5pm Central Time is midnight for BrainKing. So if I have one game auto-vacation at 4:50 my time, and another at 5:05 - then it will use 2 auto-vacation days since they are on different days according to the server.
(hide) If you click on a person's name and then click Finished games you will have a list of games that have been completed, then click on the name of the game to get a summary of all of these games, then click on the name of the game again and you will have a game to view and analyze.
