Deb4858: You can't delete IE really. Although Microsoft lost that law suit (where they were accused of having it irremovable bound to windows), it is still not worth the trouble.
What I did (and I recommend) is to remove the IE icons from the desktop and quick start line, etc., and change teh setting for WINDOWS+I to start Chrome instead. That way, if you ever really need it, you can still start it from the hard disk, but otherwise it does not take any space away on your screen (hurting your eyes and such).

Unfortunately, there are still some pages out there which do only work with IE, and although I try to hold them in contempt, some of them are a necessity (let's just say I get paid well to use them)
