furbster: the version I've played for bout 25 years, is you lose your turn if you get a third acey-duecy in a row, same goes for just playing regular rolls, if you roll doubles you play them, roll, get a second set of doubles, then play...but if your third roll is another doubles, it's your opponents turn.....

Vikings: you do?, i've never heard that rule.. i've always played it where you get to move pieces on with any rolls.
I love this game though, gets irritating when a combination like this happens though 1-2, 6-6, 1-2 6-6, 1-2, 6-6 5-6 lol

there's another difference, you have to roll 1-2 or doubles just to get on the board

Subject: Auto-vacation
i know this subject has been mentioned numerous times but is it possible to make it so you can see if someone is on auto-vacation and how many vacation days they have left as i am in a tourney wich is being held up by one person who is on auto-vac and hasnt made a move yet and im wondering how many more days this will go on for. Is this at all possible??

Daniel Snyder: are you saying that if you roll a 1 & a 2 you play your 1 & 2 then you play a double of your choice then it's still your turn so you roll the dice again. Effectively having 3 turns in a row?

tedbarber: i dont like matches either .. but its more fair the way it is like right now in those games where a certain color has a strong advantage ... when all games in the match would count you would get a ratio of about 50% for win/loss .. the way it is right now you can play matches to find out the real winner over a number of games and work on a real ratio

Why is there not an option to rate all games in a Match;this is done on every other chess site I know of? So why not consider it;I believe it would encourage more people like me to play Matches. Thank you.

Hrqls: Acey-duecy has the extra dice roll... Roll a 1-2 and move then you get a set of doubles, your choice... Then it is your turn again... The game can go lopsided if someone hits a 1-2 all the time...

I think just marking them different would be a great way to do it. Or have them set off to the side to be brought into the game and leave the bar for hit blots only.

How about separating the 5 extra checkers from the checkers that are hit? Either by giving them different appearences, or putting the extra checkers elsewhere.

Subject: Dark chess en passant rule
Anybody found this out yet? If I give my Dark Chess opponent the opportunity to take my pawn en passant, then will he (and should he) see it? And if so then for only one move? From the rules I guess that he will, but it is not spelled out so I suggest that it could be made clearer.

How about a sub-board for boards such as features to which the discussions arising from a request can be moved while leaving the main board free for new business?

6. March 2005, 22:31:51
Eriisa
Seriously, Chuck, I think you have a valid point. Its one thing to make a suggestion as a feature request, but when a discussion/debate starts about that suggestion, any other requests could get 'buried' and not seen. Therefore, the mods would feel it needs to move to another board.

Now with the posting today, I came on after most of it was already posted. The first post that I know of was at 4. March 2005, 07:48:38 my time zone. That is well over 6 hours ago, and I find postings on 3 boards (Members, BK, General Chat) so I jumped in with the spamming the boards comment. Its the way it looked 7 or 8 hours later ... (or however long that was). I certainly did not mean to set you off.

Summertop: I too would like to see the creation of another public board that could handle topics when moderators from another board have determined that a topic that once was relevant has moved beyond the relevance for that board. My personal experience has tought me that you can get pushed from board to board by moderators who want your discussion anywhere but in their backyard, and who ultimatly accuse you of spamming all the boards because you keep moving the topic at their suggestion. Most often the "final" call is to ask you to go to debate fellowship or boiler room or wherever. But I dont think that sending public board discussions to a fellowship is the correct solution at all! Maybe what we need is a public debate board? I mean it makes no sense to have most of a conversation on a public board with public access and then require that conversation to continue to some private fellowship with its limited and exclusive memberships. Just doesnt make any sense!

Subject: dice program flaw
it's no doubt that this is a great site, but it has needed some tweaking in the dice program since it's debut.... it's frustrating to say the least to have an opponent NOT move proper pieces in backgammon when there is a legal move on the board... it becomes especially disturbing when playing a close game of anti-backgammon and a lose occurs because of this flaw... if the player can make a legal move with the dice he/she is shown, then they should have to play the forced move, not the move that they can move only one of the dice... I have brought this subject up before a year or so ago, and if I recall it was being looked into... I've seen alot of new developments come along to the site, but nothing to addressing the flaw in the dice program...why?

Subject: Boost a pawn
If I am not mistaken this program doesnt exist at Brainking anymore. I thought it was a good idea. I know there are several players here want cash tournaments but wouldnt it be nice to combine cash tournaments with a boost a pawn program. It would be like a 50-50 deal. The total cash prize would be seperated into half going to the winner and the other half going to sponsor low income people who wish to have a membership for 6 months and then a reduced rate on another 6 months so they could get a year membership for the price of a of 6 months. This would be good for those who are skeptical to join as well a chance to get in for cheap and may prompt them to renew their membership at the regular rate thereafter.

I agree that lengthy discussions about the proposed features can "hide" legitimate requests. So why not create a board specifically for this purpose?

I would try creating a fellowship for this, But since I am already the Big Boss in too many fellowships, I can't create a new one.
