Caissus: How would be the multi-pgn data downloaded, as a zip file?

Caissus
Subject: Re: PGN
May be as a zip file if it is very big,or as standard file. One pgn-file can contain many games, for instance all games of one tournement.
But I think a pgn-file with we say 50 games should not be so very big.

allows groups of recorded games being downloaded as zip.
they offer it adjustable to 5 - 10 - 25 - 50 games, sorted by opening ... ~*~

It won't be a big problem.

Subject: Last message read
Can there be some way of jumping to the last message read (or the first unread) on a DB?
Brainking.com DB is getting 50-100 (or more) messages everyday and when I go check them out, after I click the link on the second page, all the "New!" pointers are gone. And not just that one. Even a not so busy DB will have loads of messages after a long period without checking them out (after an couple of weeks on hollidays, for instance).

If there was a way to jump directly to the page of the first unread message then this problem wouldn't exist...
Of course I'd like to be able to go and just check the most recent messages on some boards (the way it's now). I'd just like to have a choice.

pauloaguia, I am experiencing the same problem as I am quite new to Discussion boards. Even trying to follow it daily, you find there are too many and you cannot go to where you left off the day before.

Subject: 2 requests
Hello,
I would like to put to your consideration 2 requests:
1º Player list, online players, ..., could be sorted by nationality, because, i think pepole of other countries, who don't have many players could find a country mate to play.
2º When a person finish all his games in a tournament has to wait until all other opponents games finish to subscrive another tournament.
Maybe it could be possible to start a new tournament after finishing all games in the previous one without waiting till the last opponents game is over.
Thanks
Nuno

point 2 is handled generously by Fencer.
simply request being 'switched free' after
you completed all games in a tourney ... ~*~

Yes - if you have completed all of your games and have no mathematical chance of moving on to the next round you can message Fencer and he'll remove you from it so you can join another.

Still, maybe that should be automated along with section winners being declared as soon as they are obvious.

That is coming eventually - along with everything else people want. Be patient, and it will happen.

In the mean time, you could always purchase a membership and it'll come that much faster...or, better yet, you can join all the tournaments you want...! :-)

Jason: When did it happen? I've looked at your fellowship in thursday's database backup and there was no anti backgammon team.

25. July 2004, 07:34:34

and you wish to invite someone to a reply after the invite the only option is to go to Main Page...I think it would be helpful for a link to be able to go back to message box so I can delete the previous game from my message box :)

that shows up perfectly on my screen too. What software are you using? I use 南极星. Without it open, my browser may "guess" wrong which language is being used. Important for you, because 日本语 also uses 汉字

change your browser's default language and they should appear. In IE, it's view, encoding etc.

Every backgammon game I've played in the last several weeks has ended up with a + or - 8 to my rating.

Losing to someone rated 500 points lower: -8
Losing to someone rated 200 points higher: -8
Beating someone rated 300 points lower: +8
Beating someone rated 300 points higher: +8

I've started keeping my alerts as evidence.

This is clearly a mistake in my mind.

:)

I ahve just invited someone to a game of anti-backgammon ( or whatever it is called) and when i sent the request i still get only the option to "go back to main page" link.
I understood you were putting a drop down to include the option of deleting the game already played from message box :)
Or am I missing something ;)

How about a statistic for best overall percentage, minimum number of game types, etc.

29. July 2004, 08:50:51
Fencer
Bernice: Eh? I didn't do anything like that. The checkbox "delete this message after sending an invite" appears below the "invite to a new game" form in your message box when you receive a message about finished game.

29. July 2004, 09:02:27
Bernice
OH OH OH...sorry....me confused again....what i wanted was that same thing on the page you get after you have sent an invite :)
at the moment it goes back to "main page" and you have to go back to message bos to delete it...if this isnt possible..no problems :)

29. July 2004, 15:58:13
grenv
I think there is a bug, and it seems to be recent and only applies to backgammon. Clearly if I lose to someone rated below me I should move down more than losing to someone rated above me. Note that in all cases the ratings are well established.

is it possible to set up a ban feature when you remove players from tournaments so that when you remove them, they cannot rejoin?
Thanks

Why not just wait until the tournament is getting close to start and remove players at that time?

It's not the best solution, but might get you by until (if) Fencer can get an option like that done.

30. July 2004, 03:10:38
LongJohn
that is what I currently do
unfortunately, it has to be when the person removed is not online
not a very good solution. Both people can fight the luck of the clock

Subject: Stat request
since brainking is big into rating numbers and rating positions and other stats. Here is a simple one for the profile or personal main page. Since ratings flucuate frequently, how about keeping track of a player's highest BKR number in a game that way we can always know what the highest all-time rating we attained in that game. You could do a similar thing for rating position. You will always then know the highest position you attained in that particular game, not just the current one.
