Hannelore: maybe (s)he was just given extra days because the timeouts occurred in one of his/her weekend days...?
Or maybe (s)he really is in vacation. In this case in his/her profile it should say that that player has vacations set for so and so days

Vikings: I kind of figured that part. So it goes with out saying that a paying member could not time out for a very long time. The main reason I asked is that this is happening with one player on two games. He has automatically given another 24 hours. What I don't understand is why the vacation days he has left has not changed.

Hannelore: let'ssay that your playing your games today, and you have 15 moves to make that would time out tomarrow, but there's a lightning storm going on, and your computer gets fried, and your not able to get it fixed for 3 days and you have no access to another computer, instead of your games timing out, a vacation day would be used automaticly. thus the name auto vacation.

Subject: Another Question
Up to a week ago I could make a page clickable (pond, fellowship etc) by typing the URL that I got from INFO. Now instead of the specific page I get the "Ponds" or Fellowships" page for the list of all the ponds or FS's. I used the same URL as before. Was a change made?

Universal Eyes: The team that is playing in the final is the same team that started the tournament.

If you look at the fellowship now, things have changed and will show different player in the team & fellowship - but who started on the team now have to complete the tournament.

(Check stats for the tournament so far: HERE - where you can see that the current 5 players have played in all the games so far.)

What you are looking at now is the current fellowship, which now has 3 players left in the team - but the current tournament will continue with who it was started with. (Not who is signed up now.)

BIG BAD WOLF:That team should have been deleted after the first round in regards to not playing with there original team.
As well as the fellowshipship team shows 3 players instead of the reqired 5,which leads to double jepardy again.

Universal Eyes: For team tournaments, the tournament will be completed with the original team members that signed up for the tournament.

Even if a member leaves a team and/or leaves the fellowship, they will still finish any games they were signed up for on the fellowship team.

In the crowns of Checkers,i find it impossible to start the final round when the fellowship does'nt have enough players to play,on top of that 2 people leave 2 are added yet still the fellowship team shows they only have 3 players, completely unfair.
This issue will cause every team tournament to be set up to win by anyone.

Since it's Fencers tournament i'd prefer a resonse by him.

Andre Faria: it would be nice to have checkboxes in front of the game types in a tournament .. and a button to 'sign up for selected'

i dont sign up to all games in a tournament .. but often sign up for 4 or 5 game types .. and am using the back button now .. it would be nice to be able to do it in one action ..

(although it isnt a very high priority for me ;))

When adding a note to a game, the ability to clear some of the previous ones would be most welcome.
Or simpler yet: a check box by the submit button that, when selected, cleared the note box before adding the new note.

it could be stopped for making that forced move for you

like in anti chess i often hover my mouse over all my pieces to see which pieces i have-to move .. so that i can concentrate on the possibilities which i have .. that way i will less easily overlook something

if the forced moves wouldnt show up ... i would have to think about all pieces .. and likely miss some moves which might be better

so it can make it a lot easier for newbies like me when forced moves are shown .. but i think its less nice for better players who wont need it and might consider it artifial help :)

29. April 2005, 19:26:11
Grim Reaper
actually, what is interesting is that ANY game where you select a piece to move that has only 1 legal move, the "legal destination square" is selected for you.

If you make a move and the opponent has only 1
"legal move" in reply, it would make sense for that move to be made immediately.

But, that is non-trivial to implement, and could add to the overhead of the site.

One small wish for Backgammon, is to add an indicator that would just show if one player has broken the contact.
This would be a bit helpful, at least for me, since it would have saved me from looking all the board, at positions with a big pipcount in favour of me, so i could play instantly........

But the bigger wish is to have forced moves to be played automatically. For example the bar situations where i can't move, is very annoying to have to press sumbit........Also at late bear-off it would be good to have it move for me automatically in forced moves.........

Fencer: WooHoo! I go to work and come back to find envelopes and dots. Thanks!

I was thinking was that if there were dots by the moderators names that were on the site at the time that it would be easier for people to know that they were the people that needed to be contacted first about any problems with that board. The envelopes certainly will help to speed up the process.

It also makes it easier for the Globals to see if there, in fact, is a moderator of a particular board on site, so situations could possibly be handled a little faster than trying to figure out if any of them were around.

Now, about that microwave three rings on the microwave.....
