Subject: Changing icon
Modified by Mousetrap (17. October 2006, 16:29:08)
I am having trouble uploading a jpg icon.
It does not matter if it is the required size of 40by50 or 200by300 or 100kb and below It still says this file cannot be supported. Where am I going wrong?
Thanks very much!

Mousetrap: It means the file is not recognized as a jpg, gif of png image. Please make sure it can be viewed in some image editor before you upload it.

Fencer: Ok it can be viewed in adobe and in my photo editor for my scanner and it is a jpg file on a floppy disc and can be viewed as such.

Mousetrap:  Well, you have basically two options.  One is to insist the problem is on the server side and never get your icon uploaded.  Or, you can try to solve it on your side.  Try re-saving the file in one of the other accepted formats (e.g. gif) and uploading that file.  Or convert it to another kind of .jpg (e.g. by changing the level of compression, size, etc.) and make sure it is re-saved as a jpg before uploading.

alanback: I am going to try and solve it on my side and get it uploaded somehow lol! If not I will just have to give up on that particular icon and try again with another. Thanks very much for all your help! You too Fencer!

Fencer:  I'm also having a problem with the "change icon" function, receiving a message: "This file type not supported."

I was sure the file was a satisfactory JPEG.  So I even tried re-submitting my existing icon file (which presumably should be okay), and got the exact same error message!

BerniceC: The crazy frog icon upload was successful, at least. I think I'll add a MIME type of the submitted file to the error message, so you'll be able to report it and I'll know what is wrong.

I didn't expect there was something like "pjpeg".
