Take a Deluxe Scrabble Board... Get 2 sets of Letters... Plenty... First is to color the back side of each piece with the color of the game... then make a white Boarder around the insde of the board... Then put in pieces and have fun...
in the team tourney, did anyone else find that configuration extremely beneficial to white? i had to really bear down for the black games because of that one green frog on c7 that made it fairly easy to get caught sucking back red or blue frogs if one wasn't careful. The stats were almost completely even, a little to black's advantage, before the team tourney started, now they're getting a bit more skewed, though not much, towards white. Does white have an advantage?
In the 12 finished games I've played, the least amount of frogs left was 18. In two games: 451819 and 457429. The maximum amount of frogs left was 27, in game 456900. Average amount of frogs left: 22.75.
On average, I've scored just a bit more than 114 points, with a maximum of 120 in game 445522. The least amount of points scored was 107, in game 445401. This games is also one of three with the smallest difference in points: 7. The biggest difference happened in game 456900: 117 - 90, a 27 point victory. In two games, 445522 and 443943, the total score was 223 points, a maximum for me.
*nod* .. would there be any way to make it possible though ... i am in the dark here .. but maybe it could do something if you have to move again when you only captured a green one (in dark) .. but not sure .. i am just thinking aloud .. and confusing myself :)
Froglet is one of the mosr popular games on this site, and a game which is basicly unique to BrainKing - not available on other turn based game sites - so I think if we can think of a variant or 2 that sounds like fun, it would be worth wild to add them to the site.
Could that pop in the top of my head:
1) Randomize Froglet. Lets say every 5 moves, all the froglets still on the board are randomly assigned a new color. Of course, that would make the game more based on luck - then good planing...... or possible give each player a chance to randomly change all frog colors ONCE during a game.
2) Bonus Froglet - include different "bonus" froglets on the board. AND you DO NOT know what "bonus" you get until after the turn. Some possible "bonus" examples are:
2x frogs - if you jump one of these, your score from that turn is doubled.
3x frogs - same as 2x except tripled
poison frogs - You get no score for that turn
Maybe include 5 "bonus" frogs on each board - 3 of the 2x, 1 of the 3x, and 1 poison frog.
Anyone else have other ideas. I'm sure I'll think of some more also.
push frogs into the pond .. 1 large area in the middle of the board .. you can push other frogs (dont how exactly, any ideas?) into the pond to gain (negative?) points
just a wild idea .. not thought through very well :)
The board is a "lilly" pad - Off the edges of the lilly pad is the lake. (will use word lake to not confuse people with the pond game). If your frog ends it's move next to any other frog, it will "scare" the frogs that it landed next to and "push" 1 space away from the frog that landed (and in turn pushing the next frog if next to a frog, and possible push one off the lilly pad - for negative points. Of course, if you push a frog to an empty space, no negative points.
It would
1) make many negative points at the start of the games.
2) make you have to plan your moves a lot more
3) will keep changing the playing board.
4) be too complex to even try to make on this site! :-)
Fencer: I see that you think the board size is ok. However, could you set up a Small Froglet with a board 6x6. Then you could measure the popularity of the two board sizes.
MagicDragon: There used to be a limit of 9 jumps. I'm not sure but I think it was even mentioned in the rules (I'm sure it was very debated here if you check out the posts from a few months ago).
Good to know that limit has now been abolished
The game you are talking about where you had a 10 jump move Magic was against Hannelone wasn't it? If you look at that move in the game (#28) and you count the moves it show 11 spaces moved. Has to be a sure record. I can't believe an opponent would allow such an opening. lol Way to go!!

Backgammonfan28: Yes it was against Hannelore. Shucks! I almost missed it myself. It is 11. Forgot to add the frog at the end! LOL Thank You all & I hope if Fencer does give a prize, it wouldn't be anything a frog might eat! :)
