This unusual chess variation is almost 300 years known in India and several Malaysia islands. The game brings a new piece called Maharajah that combines king, queen and knight features. It means that Maharajah moves like queen and knight together, cannot move to a square attacked by opponent's pieces and if it is attacked by the opponent (check), it must retreat or capture the attacking piece. The following picture shows the start position:
Other rules are (with one exception - black pawns cannot promote to another piece and must stay on the last row forever if they reach it) indentical with classic chess rules. It means that the game is finished if the Maharajah or the king is in a checkmate, one player is in a stalemate, etc. Play this game
