ketchuplover: bad Idea, much of the income comes from the advertizement reaching a large number of players, like pawns, so there would actually be an income drop even if there were to be a %25 increase inpaid membership
ketchuplover: I think you'd lose 95% of players immediately, and another 99% of potential new players - if I come to a website the first time, and they want money to start with, I just close the page. I don't pay money for things on the web, as there is always somewhere you can get it for free. I think most others would do so.
And having so few players suddenly results in the same people playing everwhere, which is boring, so more people leave. RIP.
xarmanhs: If you are wanting quick games you either have to play against someone you have prearranged that type of fast play up with.. or you can visit sites such as Pogo.. I would hope though that someone would be able to play the faster game set here so you can get to know this site.. I am not currently in a position at this time to play.. since I am visiting my family and am on just briefly..
Also.. some peeps will start numerous games to feel as they are playing fast..
i am sorry for buggin you but i am new and i would like to know if there is a way to play quicker any game i want. without waiting hours per move or something like that,,
rod03801: If you have a game with time remaining in the red (i.e. less than an hour left), I suggest the following:
1) Open up the game.
2) Check the time limit per move. Let's say that in this case it is 2 days.
3) Check when your last move was made. This should be under your name on the board and say something like "Last move: 25. September 2011, 10:59:24".
4) Add the time per move to that time listed under step 3. In this case, add 48 hours.
5) If the time under step 4 is in the future, you haven't used vacation time in that game.
6) If the game you just checked has for example 15 minutes left, and you have another game that has a time left per move that is less than 75 minutes, you should check that game too under steps 1-5. The reason is that it may already have gone into vacation time and had 1 hour added to time left to move.
All of the above should also take into account weekend time. Fischer clocks make things even more complicated if they add extra hours for each move made. Good luck in that case....
Aganju: I BELIEVE I used to be able to look at the old calendar, and see that a vacation day had been used. Of course that is a bit more complicated now that we have vacation hours. (Which I think is an awesome change, and very clever!)
rod03801: Go under My Profile on the left, in the center grey block is a line: 'Vacation days left: 31 days 8 hours - using the automatic vacation' or so.
I understand the calendar was taken away, since all vacation is automatic now. However, is there any way to see when some vacation has been used? (I don't really keep track of my "vacation time balance")
Not a big deal.. But I had a game down to 1 hour, so I was curious if I had ended up using vacation time at all today. Just curious if there's any other way now for me to know. (besides keeping track of my time balance)
while this topic is discussed: I think basically all of them are only useful for a while, and then another one is better. I'm finding myself switching between them very often; so what I would really like is the setting: 'go to next game of this type, if none found go to game of similar type, if none found go to next game.' that way I could go through my 150 moves without ever changing the setting, getting the games presented in a useful sequence, grouped by game type and game (first all Backgammon games, then all Nackgammon, etc.)
I understand that this is a bit more complex, but I could imagine that such a setting would be nice for a lot of people?
MadMonkey: I used to use that one once in a while (go to game with most moves). It was nice for playing games that were LIKELY to be near the end. (To help lower number of games I had going) I haven't used it in a long time though. I had actually forgotten about it.
If you are playing any normal game (single player Tournament or otherwise), and you say got next Team Match, it just picks the next game in line. If you are in a Team Match game, and you say got next Team Match, it seems to pick the next one, UNTIL you try to do it again, it just jump out back to Main Page.
That is VERY much as the same in Messages when you Delete & goto next, it only does it once then jumps out back to Main Message page Hope that info helps track the problem down
