Tuesday: Today, there are aprox 25,000 Poler bears where as in the 1970's there were only about 5,000. and they can swim for miles, so these images are just another part of the global warming hoax
Research shows that polar bear figures made in the 70's were an estimate and still are as counting them is hard. There are 19 sub species listed over various areas of the Artic circle of which only 1 seems to be on the increase. Much of any inrease will be due to the fact we've stopped hunting them to extinction.
No-one can give an accurate figure on actual numbers.
Artful Dodger: I will admit that Joe Bastardi puts on a compelling show for your friends Bill O'Reilly & Glenn Beck. But, he is a weatherman, not a scientist. He is also on the dole of big oil which could be suspicious. In addition, he predicts the weather with an air of complete certainty. Nobody can be that certain about the weather. I agree that no science can be absolute, & no one can say explicitely when the world will end by global warming. But, the vast majority of scientist agree that there is a man made component to global warming. Based upon this evidence, I side on the need for gov't regulation to stem this trend. It may happen anyway, but I think we can do things to delay it.
Temo: Re: Ok, so without your usual nonsense when challenged, how about you make your best case to support the above assertion?
Vikings: Why did the Bin Laden family leave the USA? How many cases of corporate manslaughter have been filed against USA companies.
Nasa didn't scrap the moon flights, Obama did to save money. The current planned system was a joke and pre dates the current admin, they stopped a farce. Certain drug companies have issued false claims and made billions from drugs that don't work or unsafe.. how, by bombarding the government depts with two much information or supressing facts.
.. That's a world wide issue and has in the USA alone led to a case of over 10,000 people suing the company over diabetes caused by a prescribed drug.
The tobacco companies knew pre 70's of the cancer risk due to tobacco smoking, etc. .. I've seen the files personally due to a job I did relating to a UK class action.
Taxes, everyone tries to evade that. How many billions in off shore accounts.
1000's of UK building companies got caught fixing prices for projects all around the UK. The ripped off clients, were public, private and charities.
I hear Medicare and aid in the USA are bankrupt due to charges made by private hospitals and doc's that are way over the top. Is there any truth in this?
As for social networks.. Don't really use facebook and the likes!!
And how much (you did not answer) are your bank bonuses this year. I hear all the banks are crying "if we don't pay out billions in bonuses the eggheads will leave and join other companies."
Temo: Re: It pays to check out the stories. Chalk another one up to me.
Artful Dodger: There are those on the right that say we do not have any impact for from man on the world, there are those on the left who say we are all going to die!!
.. Actually, we have many on the right saying we are all going to die but that is a loose interpretation of a certain chapter in a book.
Meanwhile cheap palm oil that food manufacturers are using so happily is fast helping a certain close cousin of our genetically become extinct or a zoo only feature.
Vikings: I'm still waiting for you to tell me what you consider efficient, I'm still waiting for you to report on your bank's and their bonuses.
But hey... Republicans here seem to be above such honesty and perspective. Hence my comparison of private business and government, both run by humans. as I don't know your personal view on what is considered well run!
btw.. those prisoners in the USA jails who make for the USA military such things as body armour and battle helmets.... how is the equipment holding up?
From a British point of view I can see how you guys from the USA might have problems with perspectivity and relativity, after all... during the Northern ireland war (involving terrorists) many private people in the USA gave money which ended up paying for weapons that killed civilians over here as well as soldiers and police.
After 9/11, right wingers moaned about the French, who supplied info on another terrorist attack attempt which with the help of the Canadians stopped said attempt. Just because they did not agree with Bush.
Artful Dodger: My local weather lady, who is quite nice on the eyes I might add, is also a meteorologist & knows the science quite well, also. But, she does not presume to be an expert on global warming. Niether, to the best of my knowledge, does she do work for big oil cos. IMHO qualifications do matter. Monetary interests does have an influence on opinion. The fact that these 2 guys appeared on O'Reilly Factor does not make them experts. My guess is that they were doing it for showmanship. Or, to represent their moneyed interests. Same for those people who appear on Keith Olberman (sp?)
As for for the absolute assertion that there has been no global warming since 1998, I'm not a scientist & I can't say for sure (& neither can you). But, I can say that the vast majority of scientists don't hold that view, or the view that a lot of global warming is not man made.
Artful Dodger: Bill Nye knows the science, I see no mention of having the qualifications to do so..... mechanical engineering, he's qualified in that field. Nothing I can see about matters to do with climate.
Artful Dodger: And isn't it true that the number of scientists in the USA exceeds the 2 million mark so 31K is not a big proportion. about 1-2%.
Isn't it true that with regards to data on polar bear population that in most cases they cannot be sure, with many population figures coming back as "unknown".
GTCharlie: Zoo's will be more popular, they can hang a sign "extinct. biodiversity levels to small in the wild to continue". People can pay to have their photo taken!!
Temo: Re: Growing low-oxygen zones in oceans worry scientists
Tuesday: Good post from Mclatchy. It basically states that global warming has been continuous due to depleted oxygen in the ocean related to global warming. The article cites Oceanographers & studiers of marine biology. I would trust them more to indicate that global warming has taken place since 1998 than the absolute claims by weathermen who appear on the O'Really Factor to do the bidding of big oil companies. Just my humble opinion.
Tuesday:I agree. the days of zoos and circus should be over.. leave the animals alone.. like that orca incident recently.. they're called "KILLER WHALES''... let them swim in the ocean.. leave them be
Temo: Re: And IF real, either it is anthropogenic or it is not.
Artful Dodger: No it can be many factors including man made pollution. It's not just the sun, the seasons, a fart by a gigantic space monster and some of mankind's problem with remembering to look after our home for the sake of a buck.
The orangutan is facing the loss of it's habitat so we can have cheap food and cheap chocolate. Arrangements made to protect the orangutan's habitat and that of the Indonesian rainforest are being broken by men who just love money for those who don't care.
Tuesday & GTCharlie: We already do pay to see some animals as they are so rare. In some cases due to hunting, etc some species need to be bred for introduction back into the wild.
I prefer the open park zoo's and animal sanctuary's. Good to see lion's roam somewhat.
Temo: Re: the Japanese Internment Camps during World War II.
Artful Dodger: Blimey.. whichever site you got this lot from likes to distort history. Does it also come with a cleaning solution for the right wingers and neo-nazi groups of conservative background in the USA.
.. You know, when men were real men, women were real women.. n' small furry creatures from the Alpha Centuri system were real small furry creatures from the Alpha Centuri system!!
