Nirvana: How often do you see and hear a fiddle player playing the blues? His work on The Starship's Red Octopus album was a treat.

Jim Dandy:  Thanks for that little piece.  How do people get soooooo talented, I just want to know.  I had a little discussion with a man at lunch the other day about the word musician.  His idea was that only classical musicians were musicians, and everybody else is amateur.  I knew I was in trouble at that point, and I just let it drop.  He got no validation, and I knew I was right.  I happen to be both, or have been, and it's nice to know I have knowledge beyond the imagination of some people.

TexasToest: I constantly try and maintain an objective point of view when it comes to different styles of music. It's so easy to label certain music as "crap" but I try and remember that it's an art form and regardless of it being pleasing to my ear it might be pleasing to others. In other words, there is no "bad" music, just different.I can appreciate those who are schooled in the finer points, but I was a self taught player and I think that also allows us to be less strict in what we can do,thus more creative at times.

baddessi: I checked out your cousin's music, she's good.I hope she doesn't have to pay royalties for the creative chorus in the Highway song. Here is one of the most talented and sadly ignored folk singers of the last 40 years, this song still gives me chills

Jim Dandy: oh thanks...I dunno about the royalties..I wondered about that too, but knowing her as I do, she got permission to put it in her song..whatever channels that takes.

And I agree with you on the Brand New Key thing...

Jim Dandy:
Yeah, it's harder to get them out when they are dancing..
Just to clarify, one played fast pitch, one is a darn good dancer, and the other one (known on here as w0nder kitty) is our karate kid. She may look sweet and innocent, but she's a brown belt and NOT afraid to use the force! LOL

And now to keep this on topic...here is a video clip I hope you all will enjoy...check out this guitar! LOL soooooo cool!!!

Nirvana: I wondered why there was so many versions of Melanie singing Ruby Tuesday on utube. Was it a big hit for her? Brand New Key was poison to her career in her opinion,it was overplayed and gave peope the impression she was a novelty act.
