Heh :-) It will save a lot of my time if BK users stop using IE.

like bbw says .. have a look at the processes running (you can do so by pressing ctrl-alt-del)

your ram could be a problem or the memory of your graphics card

is it a bought/copied/downloaded dvd or a dvd movie on your harddisk ?

To me it just sounds like something else is possible running and taking up processor power - causing the movie not to play smothly.

I would disable virus scan during playback - make sure other programs are not running. (Possible do a fresh reboot of the laptop before playing the movie.)

The strange thing is I have DMA working and my hardware should be OK. Has anyone ever encountered this ?

So do you think you get a lot of junk mail?

Bill Gates - 4 million e-mails a day! (most spam)

News story: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041118/ap_on_fe_st/bill_gates_spam_2

Now my 150 e-mails I get a day does not seem as bad! :-) (145+ are usually junk)

Was just reading today about Sun's Solaris 10 Operating System release in the next month, and the big news - it will be FREE!

I will have to admit I have never used Solaris operating system, but now I will have no excuse to at least put it on a test PC and play around with it.

RAHVIN, I've had this problem before. Empty your recycle box, do a disk cleanup, restart your PC then run your AVG again. It should be clear then.

Asunto: virus?
can someone help please. i resently updated my virus checker(AVG-free edition v.6). it found a few viruses and killed them except that now i keep getting this same pop up box which says as follows,

AVG Resident Shield
Virus
Trojan horse Backdoor.Agent.BA
is found in file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\resepad.dll
To remove this virus, please run AVG for Windows.

I've tried running Avg again and it finds this virus, but it says it can't heal the file and it can't delete it, so everytime i open a window or start and app, this box pops up.
Can somebody please tell me what to do.

Well, I've remove the links to IE (he doesn't know how to find it now) and installed firefox...not to mention the issue of him sneaking on the internet. Kids certainly keep you on your toes!

10. Noviembre 2004, 16:44:12

Yes because these ActiveX components are compatible with IE only.

Is firefox (and other browsers) as susceptible to hijacking as IE is? My son has been sneaking on the internet (no, he is not visiting porn sites). He likes to go to free on-line game sites. He also likes to search for things (favorite trucks, toys, games, etc) on the internet. Everytime he came to a web site that poped up the "Do you want to trust content from..." dialog, he clicked YES. Ouch...I ended up with almost 500 spyware/malware/adware objects on my computer. IE was hijacked so bad, I couldn't even get to google. After three days of work (using ad-aware) I think I have all but one gone. Ad-aware doesn't find any but I still can't get to google (it is like it doesn't even exist). If you ever come across "SearchForIt"...don't be fooled. It is one ugly hijack to get rid of.

Hey, I've got a girlie reason for prefering Firefox!
I can make all my used links turn red instead of that yucky blue!
Maybe I should have said 'aesthetic reason'.

Personally, I prefer Mozilla to Mozilla Firefox. But either is worth it when it comes to pop-ups (the lack thereof). :)

yes, under your bk2.0. under the old system, with more lax security, it would have worked.

9. Noviembre 2004, 20:13:56

Fencer: I was thinking more about your games to move, this is just ideal for dynamic bookmarks. the problem is that with your current system you have to be logged in to access it.
consider: with one click on 'open in tabs' you'd have immediate access to all your current games.

I personally think Firefox i slower. I takes a little longer to load pages. BTW My.Yahoo supports RSS.

9. Noviembre 2004, 17:21:15

more: the tabbed views can be stored as a single subentry in your bookmarks: when you have opened all the tabs you want, click "bookmark this page" and activate "bookmark all tabs in a folder". to load, go to the folder and click "open in tabs".

you can also make your start page a group of tabs.

9. Noviembre 2004, 17:17:14

Asunto: So... what's the advantage Firefox has over IE?
apart from being faster, smaller and less bugged, you mean?

you have, for example, tabbed browsing: instead of opening a window for each separate site, with firefox you can open links in a new tab (click right, open in a new tab). this means that all your browser windows are accessible as a single windows window, switching is much faster between views.

in firefox you have an inbuild popup ad preventer, no need to install anything.

in the browser there is a prepared google search place, no need to go to the google page.

in firefox you have an interresting new feature. some sites (more and more) are using something called RSS. try, for example, http://news.bbc.co.uk/ . in the lower right corner of the screen you'll see 'RSS'. click on it, and subscribe. this gives you a variable folder in your bookmarks, that updates itself whenever there's something new on the server.

FENCER, WINK WINK, when will BK be on RSS? WINK WINK

and a lot more, I'm still discovering too.

Asunto: Shut down in Roses Terms
Depends Bumble on the operating system. XP has a type of self repairing thing. If you leave it on all the time it is better for the system. With other operating systems other then XP I would suggest shutting them down overnight. With 98 or ME the reboot gives the machine a chance to look at the files on reboot and make sure everything is working ok.

9. Noviembre 2004, 14:30:00
bumble
As you're here Rose, what should you do when you finish a session on the computer? Should you turn off the computer or put it on standby eg overnight? Yeah, I'm thick!

9. Noviembre 2004, 14:27:10

Asunto: Clocks
There is a battery on the motherboard.. If you notice the time slowing down if you shut the machine off over nite then when u turn it on the time is wrong/ slow then u need to change the battery. But if you are losing time and you dont shut down over night it might not be the battery but it may be something wrong with the motherboard. Its usually not a big deal other then having to reset the clock alot.

yeah, I suspected as much... but how do I know which number corresponds to each symbol? I mean, last I checked 13 was code for Enter, not for a note... or has this nothing to do with ASCII and UNICODE's?

Press 'alt' then tap a few numbers out on the numbers block on your computer.
Eg - alt + 14 = ♫

Asunto: Special Chars
Can someone please explain me how do you put special chars in the messages like the notes I see in so many profiles or some other symbols?
And is any unicode char supported in this way or is there a selected set of admited chars?
