20 years since The Young Gods formed, you might have expected the rest of the industrial rock world to have caught up with them - yet this compilation renders most of the competition redundant. What's more, new track ''Secret'' is a blistering statement of intent, simultaneously returning to the dynamic rock sound of their late 80's material and proving that The Young Gods are further ahead than ever. In the mid-80s The Young Gods' line-up was vocals, sampler, and drums. Their self-titled first album was voted Album Of The Year by UK magazine Melody Maker in 1987 : a visceral, modernistic, machine -made opus of unquestionable genius. They went on to sample and cover everything from Gary Glitter to Shostakovich, while still sounding like only themselves. The 90's brought commercial success and the support of many of the industrial / Goth fraternity, while also having a decisive influence on a generation of rock bands - most notably Nine Inch Nails.
