Thanks for the update, Eddie.
I shall wait for these improvements & when they come, I shall become a happy participant here.
I'm always glad to find a new place to play my favorite game.
The rating system here should put BrainKing a step ahead of IYT.

I am brand new to BrainKing.
My game is Straight checkers, also known as English draughts, & two things bother me here.
One, the pieces are represented as Chess pieces.
And two, the White pieces move first, as in Chess.
It should be the Red pieces that go first.
Both these things are annoying to a serious Checker player.
I would like to urge the folks who run this site to correct them sometime in order to make BrainKing more attractive to Checker players.

or better yet .. make it easier on fencer cuz we all know he has enough to do on his list why not just click the persons name that was most active that day an take a look your self to see how many games they play.

Sujet: Fencer, question with most active.
I'm curious as heck in just how many game these fine folks are playing in to achieve this feat each time it comes about. Now me being one of the most non-active players, may not be a good player to ask this but I will. I don't know how much trouble it would be but this is just a suggestion of I'd like to see. Example:

(11)name(640 moves)(100)

(11)For the # of times they've achieved this.

abcdefg - Players name.

(640) most moves achieved.

(100) # of games they participated in to achieve todays most active.

Now I just talking about the days winner not everyone on the list. Thanks, just a suggestion.

Unless Fencer recently changed it, you simply add new notes and cannot change existing notes for that game. I never use notes, so i am not very familiar with how it works :-)

LOL - okay Kevin, that makes sense.. :-) Thought there was a connection with either lists. By the way they appear on your mainpage, it´s like those 2 lines are connected, that´s why I got confused. But it´s clear now, thanks..

Sujet: Re: Fencer: look at my BKR / rating lists... ;-)
They are in the correct order on both lists. The 'Your best BKR' list is simply a list of all your ratings, in order from highest to lowest. The list called 'Your best rating positions' is like your position on this site. For example, you have the 47th highest rating on the site in Linetris (that's what the 47 means). That list is just the order of those numbers, from best to worst. Hope that helps! :-)

Sujet: Fencer: look at my BKR / rating lists... ;-)
Hi Fencer,

When I view my BKR and rating lists on my main page I see these two lists:

Your best BKR

1) Linetris 1488
2) Spider Line4 1424
3) Five in Line 1198
4) Backgammon 845

Your best rating positions:

1) Linetris 47.
2) Spider Line4 89.
3) Backgammon 163.
4) Five in Line 262.

The lines 3 and 4 are messed up ;-) What belongs to what? :-)
Can you please have a look into this minor issue?

Cheers, ~*Radiant 36:9*~

I'm a new player to this site as well.Your point is good BUT if I'm on the bar and can't come on I'd like to know this, unlike a table top Bg board your not always there to know that there's no potential move,so if it goes directly back to my oppoinet then I'm thinking there's a glitch in the game because I missed my turn, and if you don't like the fact that you've been taken off the board and have nothing nice to say then you just submit to your oppoinet, but there are time when you may want to jest about been taken off the board, that to is an option.

Sujet: Re: New player thoughts
1) Thanks...that worked. :o)

2) Perhaps that could be an "option" for players to choose if they want to move the game along quicker. When my opponent does it to me, he wouldn't want to read my messages! LOL.

Thanks again. Seems like a great site so far.

Sujet: Re: New player thoughts
1) There is a setting (on your settings page - link found on left (or top, with row layout)) that allows you to put the game board at the top of the page. This could fix your first problem :-)

2) I have asked Fencer about automatic passing when there is no legal move, but he was against it - though the opponent should still be able to see the board so they do not get a board that is completely different from how they left it (when multiple passes are necessary) and so they are still able to send a message with the 'pass' move.

Welcome to a great site! :-)

Kevin

Hi Fencer. I'm trying out your site and overall like what I see. I'd like to make two comments, though, that you may already know but are a little annoying. First, every time I play a die I have to move the screen in order to see the whole board again. Second, when the opponent's inner board is filled and they have no potential to move off the bar, you still have to wait for them to open the game rather than coming back to your next roll automatically. Ant way to avoid that? Thanks

another gammon variation, actually a variant on race, is called Greek Backgammon (quite possibly know by other names) It is essentially the same as race excepting when you hit your opponents pip, it is not sent to the bar but is held there for as long as you leave the pip covering it in place. Its a lot of fun don't know how difficult it would be to set up. I have never seen it on another website.

hi fencer..great site..great game variations to try..the site is not slow on webtv..2 good features..I tried to send you an idea I had by email if this is a dp..ignore one.how about "crowded backgammon"..a variation..setup just the standard board..but with an extra 5 blots for each players on the bar at the start.only rule change = on a players move..removal of blot from bar is optional, can move a blot not on the bar..what do you think?

also - provisional BKR's in italics are hard to differentiate from BKR's esp on webtv..maybe a diff text color would be easier for us all.would not be a dificult prg change.is it worth the trouble, all welcome to comment.

does anyone else love backgammon race?

is it true blondes like to play backgammon because it has a bar?(gee, just thought of that)
only kidding,no chauvinist here.most blondes I know are clever.
old backgammoon players never die, they just get blotted out.
does anyone else love scrabble or upwords?
I am planning a webpage on my website(see link below)with links & comments about good games (esp board & card games).there will be a sub heading for links-games-accessible on webtv
also-games-word games
if anyone knows any, please comment(or any clever blondes) - steve
