Sujet: Re: Don't you guys have anything better to do here?
Vikings: now that the subject has been brought onto the main boards i have deleted the 3 polls DamnCat was refering to they were only created to draw attention to the fact that this is allowed to happen time and time again now this is out in the open i hope some good will come out of it

Vikings: Except that the poll results are public. If I were to post an offensive poll result on a public board it would be moderated. Why? Because the board is public. The fact that polls are created in private fellowships is no excuse to allow for abuse of other members and be able to get away with it. Again, the results are NOT private. And the polls to which DamCat is referring serves to illustrate this point. I could raise a huge stir if I were to post certain poll questions in my private fellowship. Why? Because the results could be seen by all. That fact alone is all that matters.
Sujet: Re: Don't you guys have anything better to do here?
DamnCat: I understand your position and the globals and Fencer have discussed this more than once, the problem here is the fact that this is going on in fellowships, (more than one) so until the behavior crosses certain guideline criteria or it spills over to the main boards, it's up to you to do as you see fit if your going to be in those fellowships, I am in some of these fellowships and have taken appropriate action. In other words if you don't want to be a part of it, you know what to do. Or in other words let the buyer beware
Sujet: Re: Don't you guys have anything better to do here?
DamnCat: If you have beef with someone, take it with that person and not everyone else around you, and if that doesn't solve the problem, get an admin to help you. I just don't get the idea of getting people involved in it that has nothing to do with it?
well then I would suggest you take your own advice

Tuesday:I am not going to mention any names, no matter if it is people who write about other people or the people who are being discussed. I am not active in any type of discussion board or anything like that (that's why you never noticed me or heard of me before), I have just noticed that this behavior is getting out of hand and to me it is nothing but a sandbox. I know that this happens when a large group of people get together but most of the times people can handle it without getting bystanders involved. I know I probably won't get rid of the problem by doing this but I am making people aware of it, and that's my whole point.
Sujet: Re: Don't you guys have anything better to do here?
Vikings: I am aware that I can ignore polls from certain users and I have used this feature for some users who seems to be posting polls only about other people. Some users post both these kinds of polls and other regular polls and I'm still interested in the regular ones. I also have left the fellowships where this type of behavior got out of hand. I just wanted to address the issue since it seems to be escalating and I think it is childish behavior. If you have beef with someone, take it with that person and not everyone else around you, and if that doesn't solve the problem, get an admin to help you. I just don't get the idea of getting people involved in it that has nothing to do with it?
Sujet: Re: Don't you guys have anything better to do here?
DamnCat: 2 things you can do to not be bothered by this 1. when the first poll pops up that you do not like, you can click on the link "Ignore polls from this user". This is probably the best solution as you can still enjoy the games and other features of that particular fellowship 2. If it is too much of a bother you can leave the fellowship. If everyone would do this it would stop because there would be no one else to listen

I am getting tired of this sandbox that BrainKing is turning into. Some users in here seem to spend all their time hating on others, making polls about them left and right, and seem to have made it their mission to badmouth them all they can. I know there are people in here acting like idiots, but there are idiots everywhere. What you all are doing, calling out people in polls and all other public places, is very Kindergarten like. Are you sure you are adults??? Seriously, I'm here to play games and I am not at all interested in hearing about who is an idiot and who is not. If you have a problem with someone, ignore him/her! If the person is being really nasty, take a screen dump and send it to an administrator, it is really not the business of everybody else on BK! I can't be the only one who is tired of all of this?! And even if I am, I am happy I got this off my chest. I am sure I am stepping on some sore toes now but I really don't care, I had to say it.
alanback:if you say so. I dont personally concern myself with ratings per say...I just enjoy the games and the many good people who play here. like most things...ya gotta take the good with the bad.
AbigailII: I agree, BKR changes should be based on GAMES, not MATCHES. Ratings should update every time a game is finished, even if the match still goes on.
Snoopy: Well, it counts as a single result - but unfortunally, it's a "winner takes all" kind of result. It doesn't matter whether you win a match 1-0 (single game), 15-0 or 11-10.
This is unlike (ELO) chess ratings. There the rating difference between players A and B would, for instance, say that in a 10 game match, A is expected to win 7-3. If A wins the match 6-4, A would actually lose rating points (and B would win rating points).
The site Setup Group has information (and rules) about quite a number of perfect information games. Some of them are already found on Brainking, but many aren't. Most of them have quite simple rules, and won't require new graphics if they were implemented here.
Perhaps Fencer will get some inspiration and surprise us with some new games in the future.
pauloaguia: Go to your profile and click "Finished Games". Scroll down and take a look at the table displaying your last 10 games. In your 2-win Lines of Action match with The Saint, you see that you played as Black and you won. When you click the game, you can see that you were playing as Black in the last game.
As for the Horde Chess, I think it's better to look at this page. You can clearly see there how many draws there have been and you can easily find them in players' profiles. Or, you can download all the Horde Chess games from the Rules page.
Pedro Martínez: Why do you say that? It says you won the game, not that black won... Also, Horde Chess is one of the most biased games in the site. Because of that many people choose to play it as 2 games matches to be fair for both players. Often these 2 games matches end in a draw (1 win for each player). Yet, in the statistics, the number of draws is very small... Most of them probably from agreement between the players.
AbigailII: Brainking reports the match as a draw and your BKR is calculated based on match results. However, those statistics are color based statistics. I'm guessing they refer to game results rather than match results...
AbigailII: I think he means that in a 2 game match, isn't it supposed to switch colors in the 2nd game? So if you were black in one game of the match, you would be white in the other game of the match. So he is wondering which color that would be classified as a win for, if one person won both games.
I had originally answered the same way as you, but then I re-read it.
pauloaguia: I've played many 2-game matches where both sides have won one game. Brainking always reports them as a draw. It counts as a single game when calculating BKR. So, I assume it's counted as a 'draw' in the statistics on the rules page as well.
AbigailII: Actually I think it's the number of won games. If not, in a 2 game match, how would you count it if a player won both games? As a black victory or a white victory?
Hrqls: Actually, that number gives you the number of finished matches. If you and I play a '9 win match', and you win 9 games, I win 8, and we have 7 draws, it counts for just 1 in the statistics, but we have played 24 games.
MrWCF: at the top of the game rules is a box with Statistics of won games ... add up those 3 numbers and you have the total
i am not sure if games which were finished (give up, or time out) within 2 moves are in there as well .. neither am i sure if unrated games are in there .. i dont think games which dont count for the win statistics of a player are in there
Is there any place on the site where I can see the total number of finished games of a particular type?
I see where I can get the total number of running games of a particualr type. And I see where I can get the number of games of a particular type finished by each of the 50 most active players. But I can't see where I can get the total number of finished games of a particular type.
Some time ago I think someone mentioned a link(?) to go to in order to translate a conversation - I've looked through BK and on the net but have trouble finding one that helps me.... one of my opponents is having a one-sided conversation with me since I don't speak Czech.... could someone help me please? Thanks!
Nothingness: I cannot see any invitation from you in the Waiting Games list... I think in guest mode you can sell all games... I say this because I noticed in the past that the red number by the waiting games list is always much bigger than the one I can see when I'm logged in... but then again, I may be wrong.
