Yes thats true....there is going to be times where that child will not have satisfactory supervision whilst using the net unfortunately. I wish there were tighter controls implemented so that children are more protected.
I dont agree with having a tag next to their name stating they are a minor though, I think this would be like a beacon to attract unsavioury characters! I have worked with childrens groups were the group leader insisted that the children wore name tags on outings....I was always against that aswell for a variety of reasons!

we know Jason :o) and thats what i meant too Chatty :o)

sandra...
i totally agree with what you are saying, yes it is a parents responiblity for a child.. but there are those parents who just dont care what their kids do.. and there are some who cannot use the net.. or maybe dont know that their child is on it.. maybe at the library or round a friends..

7. Septembre 2003, 22:24:14
Jason
i agree with all you say .
but i watch the news and read the papers (and hear of terrible things)
so what would it hurt if something was implemented to help protect the innocent .

ps anything i have said is all meant in a nice way i dont want people thinking im trying to cause an argument or anything ;)))))

Its not necessary for the parents to have to play on the particular site aswell, be it on here or anywhere, but it is their responsibility to ensure that childs safety & well being

7. Septembre 2003, 22:19:14

Yes I agree, it is definately a parental responsibility to monitor any childs activity on the internet.

7. Septembre 2003, 22:16:52
Stevie
not all youngsters on here will have parents on here too, and not all parents are responsible enough to worry about the welfare of theirs like Bumble and his wife and chatty etc obviously are responsible

7. Septembre 2003, 22:12:45
harley
Isn't this just a case of using common sense?
Parents should supervise their kids no matter where they are on the net. I sure do.
And if parents or kids see anything untoward here, or anywhere else on the net then they should report it. Theres special sites to report people like that.

i was just going to say, i wouldn't be happy with my daughter haveing a 'free reign' on a part on her own... anyone can say they are a youngster. and do and say whatever... i am happy with the way i am doing things, and that is keeping an eye on who plays her.. i trust her to tell me if there is any 'funny talk'... and i hope that any other perents/ uncles/ aunts whatever that have kids on this site monitor there games too.. and have a trusting relationship to me that is the only sure way to keep them safe

7. Septembre 2003, 22:08:36

but they wouldnt be able to play their families :o(

ok all this i understand...however, maybe have a seperate section of the site special for the youngsters...maybe give them a way to run their own site??? that way this issue will end

7. Septembre 2003, 21:38:19
Stevie
point taken :o)

7. Septembre 2003, 21:31:53
Jason
yes along those lines steve , but i think it should be reported either directly to fencer or someone with more power than bigg bosses so that the offenders account could be removed or something after things had been looked into ) i would imagine fencer could see what had been written where as we cant

7. Septembre 2003, 21:27:10
Stevie
I think thats why I was suggesting something that just the big bosses were aware of to start with Jason. The page could say the first port of call would be the big boss, then if need be action can be taken further.

a tag for the youngsters i dont particuly agree with , there are some weird people about who could target them .. but then again alot of the younsters put there age in thier profiles so the problem could still be there .
what i suggest is a page on here (like an information page) which all the younger ones have to read and accept (the page could contain info on what to do ect if any harresment and such stuff happens) when the account is made for a person under a certain age .
this wont stop any of the problems but it might help any youngers to stop it quicker .
not all youngsters are wise

ok im confused....why not want tag on youngsters??? maybe something generic such as "Minor"...doesnt give age etc.....dont want perverts harrassing the little ones :)

BACK OFF Bumble, dont ruin someone in public when wrong.
Thanks, Steve :o)

I'm just intrigued to know why, after looking at my daughter's profile, thereby discovering her age, you persisted.

7. Septembre 2003, 13:12:52
Stevie
NO Bumble, its to save it happening to others etc.
As I mentioned, how do we know in the first place?
Luckily it wasnt a 'problem' chat.
I suggest this stay off here and go private !

ROFL! Is this you playing your 'get out of jail free card' after your encounter with my young daughter yesterday, Steve R.
Sorry, sunshine, we don't accept cards in this family.

Thats right Princess but the problem is that you dont really want a tag or something on the profiles, because there maybe some on here that you wouldnt want to let them know which are the youngsters :o(

I'm sorry to hear that Princess, as you are one of the friendliest people I know and don't deserve that treatment from anybody. Some supposedly grown-ups can be very juvenile.

But cheer up baby. You are my Princess and can be in a club with me anytime you like. :o)

excellent idea steve....like a parental control flag or a tag on thier name somehow to identify youngsters :)

I dont know if this post should go onto this board or features.
Is there anyway of setting up a system that lets the Big Bosses know of who are youngsters so that if we have any in the fellowships, we know to keep an eye out for them, ie: someone may get a bit racey with one... But how would they know.
We could then politely divert the conversation etc
Do you see where I am coming from?
Steve

Thanks Rose but I'm thinking more of the future rather than this one case. Does the Big Boss also have the option to remove people? I pray I will never have to use it but with the proliferation of KM Fellowships and members it would be good to know.

Can someone advise me on the steps for removing a player from a fellowship? (at their request) I see an option ban from DB which isn't what I want and when I click the persons name I only have the option of promoting to manager or Big Boss but not of removing. Thanks for any help. You can private message me or post here.

Thank you so much, dear panda!

Actually, I have got a couple of questions I'd like to ask about lizards (as my 20 month son is deperately trying to make them part of his diet), so I'll join.

I've got to ask, Flooz, wasn't that a Jim Stafford song? Or was it Jim Capaldi?

Anyway, we'd better take this thread to General Chat or somewhere before Fencer gives us all smacked bottoms.

Harley! Come on! I was speaking figuratively not literally.
