I am playing Maharajah chess against one of the prominent players ont this site and invited him to play an other game with changed colours.
"Normal behaviour" according to the way i am brought up is accept or decline the invitation instead of ignore it. This player has played at least 10 moves in the other game, so he must have seen the invitation. Is this the way Czech people are raised?????????
Maybe a daft question but are u sure he understands English.? - Also If he accidentally clicked Ignore instead of add to Friends, would he still see your invite.???
Ian, the is no "ignore button" just accept or decline.
Eddie, the player is a Brain Rook but also if he has not enough room for an other game he can decline the invitation!
Sorry i meant the Add to friends & Add to enemies options when loading your profile.:) - Looks like he speaks English, so that can't be why.! - I can't see him deliberatly ignoring u.:)
Elma, Czechs are not raised to offend people. In the case of this man...I think he doesn't want to neither ignore you nor decline you...he wants to play with you as soon as he finish one of his games and then he can accept your invitation. This is what I think is going on. People do that sometimes to me...they kind of put me into waiting line...well, that's ok with me...if I do not want to wait...I just cancel invitation. Do not put him into your enemies, please...he is a good man...better...write him letter that it upsets you.I think he is not aware of you being offended right now.
Not too sure about this invite thing. Think about a telephone ringing. Must one answer it? Is it rude not to answer it? similarly with e-mails. It's seems odd that a guy doesn't deal with invites - but surely that is his/her business.
Your missing the point Tonyh. If someone declines an invite, they must have taken the time in the first place to read it. To use your example, you wouldnt answer the phone and just put it straight down again!
courteous but not necessary to give a reason.. A polite No thank you or anything at all. You might not like the person so telling them that would hurt their feelings lol but still courteous to decline with some type of text
If I decline, I decline without a response. I'm a rude, obnoxious SOB, and I ain't about to change for anyone. However, I don't have to decline anymore, cuz NO ONE INVITES ME!!!
I think the point that was originally brought up though is that the invite was sent out, and not accepted OR declined. Nothing! Nada!
My response to that would be that perhaps the person is not up to playing at that particular time, but would like to hang onto the invite to accept a day or 2 later. I have done that at times.
LMAO Stingeroni!! You expect ANYONE to believe you're rude or obnoxious?!! Nobody invites you cos they can see how many games you have running already!!
As for this invite, give it a rest! The poor guy didn't respond to an invite and its been the topic of conversation for two days!! I've played him and he's very nice polite, it was a mistake! And I for one am sick of hearing about it!! Its happened to a lot of us, me included. Dont worry about it, cancel the invite and dont send another. Simple! :o)
