I was looking at some archived games, and came across this one: Cheshire Cat Chess (bobowski74 vs. kleineme) Can anyone explain to me why Black is checkmated? There appear to be two legal moves to escape from check: 9... Ka5 or 9... RGroszkiewicz: It's because the white king hasn't moved yet. First time the king moves, it can move like a queen, so it's actually covering those two squares.
