Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
Fencer: Is there something about the internet backbone coming out of the Czech Republic that causes this problem? If the problem is not with the site itself, then it must be somewhere between the site and the rest of the world, because there is certainly a problem.
Before anybody posts a complaint about site being down, I would like to announce it is NOT down but the Who is online page containing only Czech and Slovak flags suggests that the international network line is probably down.
Which is a good example of a situation we are NOT responsible of and we can do nothing with it. We can only send a complaint to our serverhousing provider and ask him to have a look at it.
What I want to say is - in 95% of cases, BrainKing is up but the line is down.
Please keep in mind BrainKing is still running on its original machine which is not as fast as I would like to have. Moreover, the site is changing very often and the traffic and load is increasing, so what was the optimal code a year ago doesn't have to be the most optimal code now. And since any change is very sensitive, cannot be done within a day.
I think the most important thing is that the site is up and running most of the time (and from my point of view, it's running almost continuously but I understand that network issues can make it different for international users).
Just don't panic, everything is under control.
Czuch Chuckers: Same here. I noticed a strange cookie inflation lately. Like at IYT when cookies started to install spyware. Was hardly possible to play these days, moves were accepted but the games remained virtually in the "my turn" section and other odd effects.
plaintiger: I keep getting "brainking is to busy to use right now".... maybe its a browser thing, but anyway, we are always told "it is not brainking, it is your isp". It hasnt been too bad lately, but frustrating for periods of time.
plaintiger: It has been down for 45 minites here in Wales tonight, I see that a lot of other people went off at the same time, But we get told it is not a BK problem. hmmmm
plaintiger: I had an odd experience the other night, where everytime I tried to go to brainking, the browser returned to the page it was on previously. If I tried to open bk in a new window, I would get a blank window. Lasted about an hour.
plaintiger: same here actually...gives some sort of message about timing out....I just closed right down and came back in about 10 minutes...it was only BK because I could get to IYT and others :(
heavenlyemma: interesting. my browser's been unable to connect to it a lot since the "upgrade," and it's been slower. i mention it, in fact, because the site was just inaccessible for five or ten minutes about ten minutes ago. that's the kind of thing that's been happening to me a lot lately. and i'm not having problems with any other websites...

Marfitalu: Yes, of course it can be done. The only reason why I didn't do it so far is that people could be confused by the names which would be referring to non-existent domains. The Czech board is named BrainKing.cz but this domain actually exists and is registered [and owned] by me. What if someone else registeres BrainKing.fr or BrainKing.es and puts something completely different there?
i'm sorry to keep asking this over and over, but if the information's posted in a static place on the site i don't know where to find it: what's the required point size for an image that's to appear at the top of a fellowship's page?
i found the sizes for profile images in the FAQ, but i didn't see the size for fellowship images.
Enough. Last 3 posts deleted, and if you think thats taking things seriously, thats probably because this is a board for serious subjects. If you want to have a jest and a giggle there are more appropriate baords which we're always pointing out to you.
Bry: Thank you for saying my posts arent acomplaining ones. Post of my posts are in Jest and a giggle, and if that something that we arent allowed to do, that what a sad site this is. Most of the moderator that are on here (present company accepted), take things far to seriously on here.
Princess Alison: well, i'm a moderator, so perhaps i'm biased? but to me, i just read the majority of your posts as negative, rather than "complain". Just my "view" - not meant to be insulting or offensive.
In any event, I dont think recent posts are what this board is intended for.
The following was a message sent to me, havent a clue who the person is, but he is so very right in what he says.
you see what happens - the "moderators" are
so incredibly low, WHAT complaining? I read it,
you were just asking. But instantly a bunch of
blablas shows up to jump you.
657: >I don´t think that would be a good idea. As a paid member I want to write in the fora as much as I need it. What happens if I have a doubt and I have written 6 times. Do I wait for the next day...?
657: Ah, 657, you're American so you wouldn't understand. Brainking's discussion boards are part of what makes it great here. Why? Because the #1 game in Britain is Complaining closely followed by the Whinging and Moaning variants. Even if everything's going perfectly we'll complain that it's only a matter if time before it all goes wrong.
