Pedro Martínez: if it was in the form of food stamps (excluding cigarettes/alcohol), clothes stamps, bus fares stamps, education (as in fees, books etc) stamps, it would be a good thing.
But as in Australia, they are giving it to the wrong people, for the wrong reasons.
Artful Dodger: we do the same thing....all kitchen waste (apart from onion family) goes back into the ground. All else is sorted and put into appropriate bins for collection. Normal rubbish (if there is such a thing) gets collected once a week and all recycled rubbish gets collected every fortnight.
We have a funny little man in our area that walks the main road everyday picking up all tins bottles etc and takes it in his plastic bag with him....I always felt sorry for him but then realized that he was worth a lot of money as he took all the stuff home and onsold it LOL....also he get plenty of exercise as well hahahaha
The Usurper: ***What might one call someone who habitually snipes at the posts of others without contributing much to any conversation in particular***
Don't know really there are too many people in here that do that to be able to lump them/us into the same category
Artful Dodger: the last one can only be guessed at, and your guess is as good as mine.
Mr Rudd is throwing so much money around to the needy/greedy is it any wonder we are going down. Personally it doesnt affect me because Im debt free. The only way it affects me is my interest rates go down on investments, but apart from that I could care less what happens.
Artful Dodger: the first 2 are to do with TELSTRA boss....he is an american that was bought over here to get telstra up and running....it is only about 3-4 years and has made for himself (trying to remember) 1st year 15 mil, 2nd year, 12mil, and so on and so on. Is leaving with a farewell bonus of 3mil.
Now Im not sure on the exact figures as I cant spell his surname to check it up....His christian name is Sol .......??
Argomento: Re:Every financial advice show I see or hear will tell you, as an individual it is best to pay only in cash,
Czuch: now havent your last 2 posts contradicted themselves....in one you say pay cash and in the other you have massive mortgages.
I paid cash for my home, not mortgages here and if I wasn a new "anything" I save for it LOL...so I agree with you there.....but your statements are confusing, or rather contradictory.
The Usurper: bloody hell....isnt it a pity that I would be dead before I was able to read your first link....48 pages...and about 10,000 links with perhaps another 100,00 pages ROFLMBO.......
you dont expect me to believe that you have read all of that and gone into all the links and their links ad infinitum do you?
(V): Show the flesh?....still look nothing like bananas......and EOS mean END OF SUBJECT or STORY.........I didn't realize you were so...so....so?....ah what the hell.....
(V): you must have different bananas to the rest of the world is all I can say. I didnt say YOU had to gas them....they ARE ALREADY GASSED before you get them....please read carefully.......EOS.
(V):I grow lady fingers....and they aren't yellowpink....they are also called sugar bananas. I live in THE banana capital of australia.....millions of tonnes are grown here each year, along with sugar cane. They are shipped green and are GASSED when they arrive at their destination. A bunch of bananas can take up to 6 months to ripen, and to hurry them along they are gassed.
CCP***Bananas need exposure to a naturally occurring gas called ethylene in order to ripen properly. Homeowners can "gas" their own bananas by placing them in an airtight plastic bag with several apples, which naturally emit the gas.***
CCP***Gassing bananas. This process, little known to consumers, is a bit of production wizardry that enhances profit.
Bananas are grown in the tropics, a fairly long way from the world’s population centers. Consequently, they are picked while quite green so they do not over-ripen before they reach the market.
When they near their destinations they are warehoused where they are exposed to Ethylene gas for a day, or more, which accelerates their ripening; turning bananas into that pleasing yellow color most consumers prefer.***
(V): what has the fact that"ten pound POMS" came to australia more than 50 years ago got to do with what I was saying? (this is where we need a compulsory subject line)
**No, Bananas turn yellow, when picked they are green.** they turn yellow after they are subjected to a hell of a lot of ripening gas.
The only time bananas turn yellow naturally is when they are grown in someones backyard...I have them growing and you wait months for them to ripen.
The Usurper: you might get a shock LOL.....they are probably fair skinned because they are too lazy to get off their backsides and go get a job LOL.....JK...before I get bounced on.....but yes the POMS do look funny when they come to australia and go to our beaches.....you can pickem a mile off.....snow white skins and not an ounce of tan and 9 times out of 10 no muscle, but having said that they wont get skin cancers and be a BLOT on the health system. heheheheh
The Usurper: well when they instigate and put it into practice the new laws where you can't get health insurance I hope you don;t suffer for too long with emphasema(sp)
OK OK OK...I know it won't happen but you will be a burden on the health system....:(
Argomento: Re: what I consider to be a better understanding of the world & politics,
Artful Dodger: the standard of care here is absolutely fabulous....sometimes.... as long as you are prepared to wait for months/years for it.
My partner Vern who died nearly 4 years ago had bad cataracts and was on the waiting list to have them "done" He died waiting. Heart patients have to wait 3-4 months to see a heart specialist when they could be dead tomorrow. Cancer patients have to wait months for chemo and when it comes it is too late....they die shortly afterwards.
You say someone has to pay....YES...the Govt. does...all peoples/creeds/colours/etc get free health care...AT A COST - to life through having to wait.
Last year I had to have an urgent colonoscopy...they put me on the urgent list and it took 5 weeks for me to get it done :)....thats just one example.....
England is basically the same I think and I cant speak for NZ.
I can get a MRI/catscan/ done in a couple days, but you might have to wait months to see a specialist for the final results....*shrugs*
Argomento: Re: "free health care is a meaningless point"
Bernice: BUT by the same token....no ONE person will be turned away from hospital here becuase they don't have health insurance.....all are equal when it comes to that.....even a visiting american with no ins. can get free treatment.
