Snoopy: Oh, did I?
Yes, of course. BrainKing did it, it's a part of a cleanup script which is occasionally run automatically.

Argomento: Cleanup
The mentioned tournaments has been deleted and all indexes recalculated (to reflect the real status of open tournaments).

Argomento: Re: Prize tourny - brains.
afella: Well, the former purpose of this rule was to generate an additional income for BrainKing itself. However, it is no longer necessary, so it could be increased to 100%.

Argomento: Re: seedings in single elimination
joshi tm: I received many complaints when the first tournaments had been released with random seedings.
But it can be done as an option.

Argomento: Re: seedings in single elimination
"Snoopy": The point is to get the top players to the final rounds. I will make a note about it in the blog later today.

Argomento: Re: How is this a time out?
purplehawke: It makes sense but you don't understand Fischer's clock. The game started 30 days ago, now it timeouts.

Argomento: Re: Something is not right here
America is #1: You are not allowed to post screenshots of our site to another public page. Moreover, it would be much more useful if you provide a tournament URL, I don't have time to decipher the images.

Nirvana: Another one who does not read the blog, not even the game news. The rules has been updated, a horizontal line is not taken as a winning combination.

Walter Montego: I've got the seeding tables from Pedro Martínez, they might be a little different to yours but I guess it is correct too.

Argomento: Re: Minimum number of players
Walter Montego: The seeding should be correct now. For new tournaments. This is an example: JoshiTM's all open Single game Eliminator 8 #2

Jason: Not necessary to make it that complicated. Just copy and paste the tournament URL and BrainKing will automatically add the tournament name.

However, this question belongs to the Chess Variants 8x8 board.

Argomento: Re: Offering a prize money for a tournament
nabla: You don't need to use Brains for that. Just select the prize checkbox when you create the tournament and then use the standard Paid Membership page to pay for the prize. That's all.
I don't think there would be a problem with not enough players.

Argomento: Re: Sponsored tournament with an entry fee
Walter Montego: Of course it is okay, such sponsored tournaments (without an entry fee) are already supported.
About gambling, I don't think any kind of gambling happens here because even if you pay Brains to participate in a tournament, you cannot win a real money. And to create an event with a prize is absolutely legal.

Argomento: Re: rabbitoid's idea
KotDB: The solution is to play tournaments with multi-win matches. 1-win match is almost equivalent to a normal game but draws are not counted to the result.

3. Febbraio 2006, 07:22:36
Fencer
Argomento: Re: rabbitoid's idea
KotDB: Generally said, when you play in an elimination tournament, you should play to win, not to draw. Yes, it requires a more risky way of playing but that's just an attribute of this system.

Argomento: Re: rabbitoid's idea

Luke Skywalker: Game slots are not used for single elimination tournaments. Because you'll never play more than 1 game at the same moment.

Argomento: Re: help 8.6.2) Prize tournaments with an entry fee
Retep: It was just an example. Nobody says the prize must be always only 25%. The tournament I've just created has 40% prize for the winner.

Argomento: Re: Moving tournaments aloong
Walter Montego: Simply said, when it's clear than one (and only one) player would have more points than anybody else, regardless of results of the unfinished games of the same section, he can be declared as the winner. In all other cases when S-B points could affect the final order, it's more complicated and it's safer to wait until everything is completed.

29. Gennaio 2006, 11:54:24
Fencer
Argomento: Re: Moving tournaments aloong
Walter Montego: It's easy to cover simple situations where one players wins all games in his sections - then nobody else can be the section winner. In other cases it can be a little more complicated, as you say, many "if this, than that". It's not the biggest priority to implement it now but I will think about it.

Argomento: Re:
gringo: Because the current system is working like that. The new one might have a more sophisticated algorithm.
