BG: Mine was a general comment not a reply to you.
Why do some people seem to take great delight in holding tournaments up? I don't know. Perhaps they want to see the other's results first. Perhaps they have too many games.
I don't know a way of avoiding them other than restricting oneself to the fast tournaments, but even then...
I think the bottom line is, Bry's backgammon tournaments remain among the most popular on BK.
And of course anyone is entitled to promote their tournament here. And of course anyone is entitled to express their opinion. This is the Tournaments discussion board.
As Bry says, though, you know the set up of the tournament before it starts. If you accept that, sign up. If you don't accept it, then don't sign up. There are plenty of other tournaments, or create your own with your preferences as to
game time etc.
Nothing at all to be afraid of. The one thing pawns should be aware of though is that they are tied to that tournament until it's completion, unless they've completed all their games and are taking no further part in the tourney and they talk very nicely to Fencer who might release them.
It might be considered spamming, Clay. If it was a BIG tourney the mods there would probably allow it. On BK.com board too.
Generally though, the everyday sort of tourney is best kept here.
Logistics Man: If it's a tournament then, being a pawn, you can't join another until that tournament is over. Being froglets it could take a while. I hope you're a young man. It's recommended that no-one over 30 starts a tournament involving froglets or anti-backgammon.
If you do want to join another tourney then resign your froglet games and ask Fencer (nicely) to remove you from that tourney.
MM: We had a problem in 'Wombats' recently. We wanted to enter a team but the big boss, cariad, was in hospital and the deadline was fast approaching. rhiannon started her own fellowship and invited all the members of 'Wombats' so that we could get a team together.
As it turned out cariad was able to enter a 'Wombats' team and rhiannon another team, so in effect 'Wombats' had two teams.
Of course, that isn't practical for a large fellowship but the option of someone creating a new fellowship just to enter a tourney is there.
UE: bwild has nothing to apologise for. He was just commenting on a topic raised by your post.
To clarify matters for pawns buying a membership.
If you were brought to the site by another player (a member) you can add their ref no. in the box provided on the purchase page.
These 'brains' can be collected and used to buy memberships (maybe items from the gift shop).
DON'T be bullied or coerced into donating these 'brains' to just anyone - whatever they purport to be offering. They are essentially a 'reward' for introducing a paying member to the site.
Steve: Have you tried giving Fencer a nudge about your brains? I mean, he's getting on a bit now and the old memory isn't what it was. :D
At the moment two people are grateful for the auto-vacation - panda and cariad.
Both were admitted to hospital recently - one in Greece, one in Wales. Neither knew they were going to be away for quite so long so didn't set vacation days. I don't know their passwords so I can't go into their accounts and set vacation days instead.
BUT - both will be back playing next week.
No harm done, UE. I was just pulling BBW's leg.
I'm not that strict as not to allow a few posts of good-humoured banter occcassionally - heck, I'm one of the culprits!
The 5 player tournaments that BBW creates are legitimate and valid tournaments and a lot of fun. To win one isn't easy as they attract the top players. Long may they continue.
When I moderate a post of yours, you do NOT go back and restore it to virtually it's original state.
I've now removed the post completely and have banned you from posting for a couple of days.
Fencer: In the event of teams being level on points and games won/lost, do both teams progress to the next round or does some other determining factor come into play?
No, you haven't been conned rebelyell, that's still the rule. Knights can join ONE team tournament at a time.
Knights can only join one tournament of a game type at a time.
But knights can play in a team tournament (backgammon for example) and also play in a normal backgammon tournament at the same time so it is possible to play in two tournaments of the same type that way.
(nascondi) Alcuni tornei prevedono un premio per il vincitore, come ad esempio un periodo di abbonamento gratuito o un certo numero di "Cervelloni", la "moneta" di Brainking.com. (JackAwesome) (mostra tutti i suggerimenti)
