Argomento: Online indicator in the drop down
I am thinking having the green dot or something simular show in the drop down for one's games would be handy for keeping a game going. Or maybe a second drop down for current online opponents.

Argomento: Re: Online indicator in the drop down
before you select move in a game just use the drop down to the right and select go to the next game with an online player and set it as a default.

Right, but there are times I want to choose which online player I want to move against... without having to go to the main page..

Argomento: Re: Online indicator in the drop down
I suppose that'd work for me as I have just a few games going, but for someone that carries a hundred or more, they might want to choose a particular person amongst two or three that are online instead of just taking the next one in line or always taking the same person.

Thanks for the tip, I might see if I like that way.

your welcome, That is what I do when I havve alot of games on my main page and also want to read the boards that way i read and then play all the online players so they can move and when I am caught up it goes back to the main page and I know I can catch up on my reading again. but if I am caught up with my reading (not often) i then play the next game by assending order so the games that have the least amount of time are played first. I am a bit obcessive compulsive that way lol but it works for me. I just wish the members were in alphabetical order in the fellowships and that the fellowships were in alphabetical order on my main page too lol

ah yes upchuck...but you have to be careful what you say...you could end up like a couple others on here...banned.
I feel that if someone sends you a filthy, dirty message and then puts you on enemies so you cant reply to them etc, the best way is to get Fencer to look into it.
He has the BIGGEST, STRONGEST, HEAVIEST button on BK ROFLMBO

I dont seem to understand this new feature, brainking notify. I can't seem to get the one part to get downloaded. The zip file. Its taking forever and thought I would wait, but in the meantime, just what is it going to do?

Shortly, it can be useful for people who want to know if it's their turn to move, even without opening a web browser and logging in BrainKing.

Ok, thanks Fencer :-) I get the idea and I'll try to download it again :)

fencer - does this new feature not share the same purpose as turning the "email notify when opponent makes moves"? on the settings page?

29. Novembre 2004, 13:06:15

Bry: Yes but not everyone wants to receive the notification e-mails. It's just another option.

I think i mentioned this before you released BK 2.0 Fencer, but could we have an option to search for all posts by a particular person as well as just search in posts for a certain piece of text.

Walter Montego
Argomento: Re: Mad Monkey
The second thing you ask for, "search in posts for a certain piece of text", is on my computer. It has nothing to do with BrainKing. It's part of the edit function. I'm using AOL and if I click the Edit button a window drops down and shows me at the bottom of a list of options; "Find in top window". If I click that, a little window appears and I can type in the text I'm searching for and then the find next button and search all the way through the top window. I'd be willing to bet that whatever operating system that you are using has this feature.

As for a particular person messages, I don't have that feature. I could use the edit feature I just told you about and put their handle as the text. Then it would find each message by them, plus any time someone else correctly typed that handle in one of their posts.

30. Novembre 2004, 12:52:15
MidnightMcMedic
Walter,
That works great with just one page of messages, but if you have multiple pages, the search feature would really be nice.

30. Novembre 2004, 12:53:37
Fencer
What do you mean by "a certain piece of text"?

30. Novembre 2004, 13:44:29
rabbitoid
just a sort of generalized grep on all messages

30. Novembre 2004, 13:45:27
Fencer
Eh, regular expressions?

30. Novembre 2004, 13:46:34
rabbitoid
would be nice, but I don't think many would know how to use it

30. Novembre 2004, 13:52:12
MidnightMcMedic
I think he means like a certain phrase, where if someone calls you a nutcase, you can search to see who all called you that etc.

30. Novembre 2004, 13:54:35
Fencer
MMM: So why don't you just write "nutcase" to the search box?

30. Novembre 2004, 13:56:55
rabbitoid
I don't think Fencer can do that. if a message says "you are a nutcase" how would he knw that the "you" refers to you?

he could, however, find out all the nutcases in the database...

Ooops I thought it read in the message box instead of on the board. **edited out annoying phrase**

Argomento: Team games
What if, instead of each member of a team play against each member of the other, the teams could play one game (or match of games), where the members of a team decide on what the next move would be? Working together like a team and not just a group of individuals working for each other the whole time.

When it was the turn of one of the teams, each team member would vote on the next move and the move with most votes would be the move for the team. Or the team members discuss the move between them and the team captain makes the move.

Another option could be for a particular player to play against a whole team for a bigger challenge. Just to see how good he/she really is.

I got the idea from www.letsplaychess.com from their "somebody vs rest of the world" matches and think could be something nice to implement here at BK.
