Argomento: Re: deleted game message
Thad: A greater understanding between lowly pawns and paying members can be reached if the Help item on differences between us is consulted more often than not :)

grenv: Exactly, let's not push on the time issue, obviously there's some serious baggage there as Fencer confessed ;)

BIG BAD WOLF: It is, but only a CURRENT list, not an outdated one... Just wanted to emphasize this part of my earlier argument.

Argomento: Re: everything ...
BIG BAD WOLF: So my proposal (as well as by other people in here, I'm sure) is to keep that list with the items CURRENTLY being worked on, possibly marked differently, and any other items being put at the bottom, maybe with a smaller font or something - does that make sense?

Argomento: Re: everything ...
Fencer: Then I suppose the moderators should remove the items on which you are not working from the Features In Development list at the top... and maybe put the ones that are being developed? :)

AbigailII: About the possible delay in cube introduction, well, we're still waiting on Fencer's declaration of progress on the matter :) Until now, we know that it is "in development", but how far?... (I personally wouldn't be interested, as I hate the cube, but progress reports would interest a LOT of others)

Argomento: DB FAQs
It would be extremely helpful, especially for fresh members, to introduce a mini-FAQ link in some DBs, with topics that usually come up every now and then. Searching through the site causes a lot more server "fatigue" than having a ready-made page with all the answers to such issues.

For example, in the Backgammon DB, the perennial question of "why does only one die get used when the first roll played invalidates the second?" etc. could be put in such a mini-FAQ for everyone to see and noone to wonder about :) OK, the example I gave can always be a point of debate, but at least people wouldn't have to start off without any background :)

But I hope that you get my drift.

Froglet would be a good candidate for a multi-player game. However, this particular feature is currently limited to ponds for paying members.

Fencer: So, there's something special about these URLs that makes my browser respond this way - what could it be?

http://brainking.com/en/PlayerList?a=ap - works
http://brainking.com/en/PlayerList - fails
http://brainking.com/en/PlayerList?op=1 - fails
http://brainking.com/en/BugTracker - fails

Fencer: In IE, I get a bit more code, but still no body:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>

<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1250"></HEAD>
<BODY&
gt;</BODY></HTML>

I've cleared my cache, nothing. I've disabled anti-spyware checking, still nothing. If I send you my IP by PM, will you be able to see anything happening server-side?

Not what is actually there, is it?

chessmec: After logging in, I can visit that front page and THEN the background image isn't visible - the gray background is on at that time. I believe that to be a result of the relevant cookie read by the website, except it's not read before I log in.

Argomento: Re:
chessmec: The original image is 800x768, 65Kb approx. at 72DPI. I suppose the way the image is right now is perfect for 800x and 1024x resolutions, but any higher and you get repetition on the right side. I'll just have to live with it... Not that I see that page that often anyway.

Argomento: Re:
Fencer: You're the boss. But did you know about this tie-breaking system before you started BrainKing? ;)

Anyway, back to feature requests. On behalf of people with widescreen monitors, I would ask for a favour: to increase the width of the background brain image to 1280 - this will also cover people with the 1280x1024 normal resolution as well as the 1280x768 widescreen resolution.

Argomento: Re: Tournament play
Pioneer54: The more-than-one-tourney suggestion will certainly hit the ceiling of the number of games a Pawn may have started. If the 10-free-slots rule doesn't change, I suppose a Pawn could join these extra tournaments as long as they had enough slots left, by finishing other tourney games for example.

Argomento: Time left on own moves
With the chess clock settings, it should be possible to sort outstanding games according to the time left on my OWN clock even when it's not my turn. This would help in better game time management. Right now, I have to click on each individual game where it's my opponent's turn to see how much time I have left...

Any seconds?
