It would be nice to have more interesting Google AdSense advetirsement. All these WorldOfWarcraft and sites to play backgamon advetirsements are quiet boring - I rarely click them.
This can be implemented, for example, in the following way: I specify keywords in my settings page and get Google ads for these keywords. This way there is much higher chance that I will click them more often.
The following information is displayed on main page: "Total number of your started games: 22 (10 running tournaments)".
It would be nice if additionally it would also have a link to my 'open' tournaments, like "... (10 running and 1 open tournaments)". Actually I usually more interesting about upcoming tournaments (to avoid having to play too much games if I sign to too much tournaments).
grenv: I think autovacation is a nice feature and should be kept. Slow playing people is a problem (if any) only in tournaments, not in individual games.
May be a new option for tournament creation is needed, like "Only for players with less then X ongoing games". Then the player with more ongoing games can't sign up for this tournament.
Walter Montego: I think this is already possible with BrainKing. Two players just create user accounts, login and play the game here in a normal way. Observers can install cameras behind both players or run around to see how the game proceeds
playBunny: Best known chess variant with hexagonal board is Glinski's Hexagonal Chess. It was very popular once upon a time, with 100.000 board sets selled.
Aragon: Player, who didn't played a rated game for a year, should be removed from the rating list. If he/she plays again, the old rating is used and the player appears on the rating list again. This is how FIDE does for ELO chess ratings.
I also think that Bughouse would be a great addition to this site. On this "turn-based" site it should be played probably differently then over-the board and could be played in two forms:
1) As 4 player game (2 player vs. 2 player). Then it can be synchronized as: first players with white pieces make a move (the order doesn't matter), then players with black and so on.
2) As 2-player game, played with 2 boards. Each player plays white on one board and black on another one. Then it would be played in the following order: a) first player makes a move as white on one board; b) second player makes a move on one board as white and on another board as black (he/she can choose in which order, captured pieces are immediately available for dropping on another board); c) then the first player makes moves on both boards etc.
Please add a feature to download .pgn for Dark Chess game after it is finished. It is very interesting to replay the game aftewards to see how the opponent played. With game in .pgn format you can do it more convinietnly, e.g. in Arena GUI.
The fastest way to create graphics for checkers is to use an appropriate true type font. You don't need to be an artist to do this.
For example, this site has a font for checkers (costs 49$), as well as for other games like cards, shogi and chinese chess: http://www.partae.com/fonts/index.html
There could also exists free fonts with checker graphics somewhere else.
I suggest to allow en-passant rule in screen chess and crazy screen chess. I used to this rule in chess and was very amazed that this is not allowed when playing one screen chess game.
I suggest to change the way how discussion boards are moderated. The new messages should become visble to everybody only after group moderator approves them. This will protect us from spam messages like we see currently on Gothic Chess discussion board.
