Europeans Champions FC Porto (and my team) get their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League in thrilling style with victory against Chelsea FC, while Arsenal FC and Werder Bremen also ensured berths in the first knockout round.
GROUP E
Arsenal claimed top spot in Group E with a 5-1 triumph against Rosenborg BK. Arsenal and PSV finished level on ten points, but the London club took first place given their superior head-to-head record following a 1-0 win against the Dutch team. Well done Gunners and Electric team! :-)
GROUP F
AC Milan's 0-0 draw away to Celtic FC proved enough to win Group F. Milan and Barcelona were ensured qualification at kick-off.
GROUP G
Valencia CF and Bremen were competing to qualify along with FC Internazionale Milano, and it was the German champions, needing only a draw, who prevailed thanks to two late goals. Inter matched their Milanese rivals by winning the group.
GROUP H
On a night of high drama in this pool, European champions Porto joined group winners Chelsea in the first knockout round after coming from a goal down to beat the Londoners. Thanks to Benni McCarthy's (HEYYYYYYYYY BENNY) late strike in a 2-1 victory, Porto did not become the first holders to exit in the group stage (Thank God!). The result also meant heartbreak for PFC CSKA Moskva who were pushed into third despite beating Paris Saint-Germain FC 3-1 at the Parc des Princes with a Sergei Semak hat-trick - the Russian side were provisionally in second place until McCarthy's 86th-minute goal (YEAP, and we were out of Uefa too, when we were loosing...). CSKA at least qualify for the UEFA Cup, some reward for a battling performance that saw them score twice after being reduced to ten men by Deividas Semberas's 54th-minute dismissal (Unbelievable, anyone see the Paris match?). PSG - who held second position at kick-off.

Night of the "Heidi game:" NBC switched from football to movie of Heidi. In the missing 42 seconds, the lagging Raiders scored two touchdowns, defeating the Jets.
I am not a huge Ice Hockey fan, but know its big in the States & Canada. Just a little note about a young local lad who is playing out there now Tom Duggan. I wish him all the luck in the world. It has cost his parents alot of money and alot of faith in him to get him where he has got. Let's hope he just gets better :o)
I have been saying "wait til next year" ever since I had a tee shirt saying the same after the 1975 world series loss. Thats almost 30 years of heartbreak, and it looked to be more of the same this season. And there are others out here who have been at it longer than I have. My grandfather was born in 1913 and was 5 years old when the Sox won their last world series, and he is estatic that he got to see another one! I just hope that the 5 year olds of today dont have to wait until they are 93 for it to happen again....
Yes turn there skills to playing fairly too, Not fighting lol, I think that lets the team down sometimes, when they turn nasty agais'nt another team, also lets the supporters down too

I agree, the foul that caused the penalty was not one, though the foul soon after should of been. At the end of the day i agree (as an Arsenal supporter) with Ferjo that Arsenal getting beat was bound to happen sooner or later and i think its for the best as too much pressure was being put on them to carry on this amazing run. They play great football at the moment and are great to watch, i just wish they could turn there skill into scoring more goals and not sitting back when they do take the lead.
I suggest that you change the word moderator to referee! After all we are on Sports DB!
:-)))))))
I hope you don't show many red or Yellow cards!
Speaking of that, its official Arsenal finally lost a Premiership Game. Congrats Ronaldo and Rooney.
Sorry for the gunners... hey one day it has to happen...
Thanks to Pedro Martínez for helping to look after the World of Sport DB. Its not a busy board compared to others, but with his help at least it should be kept clean & free of hassle :o)
Ken Caminiti died yesterday at the age of 41 of heart failure. He was the 1996 National League Most Valueable Player and a 3 time All Star 3rd baseman. I had the priviledge of watching him play in Houston and at the height of his career was a true legend, who gave everything he had to the game, and led our team and many others to many victories. A tragic loss to the world of baseball. We'll miss you Kenny, hope you're finally at peace.

If the Jacksonville Jaguars are known as the
"Jags," and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are known as
the "Bucs," what does that make the Tennessee Titans ? ~*~

Heavyweight United States duo Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson lost twice on the opening day of the 35th Ryder Cup Friday as Europe opened up a record-equalling lead of 6.5 points to 1.5.
Naslund was not used much because he played weakly
They didnt use Daniel and Henrik Sedin in the team at all. I was hoping they would make it on as a good 3rd or 4th line
I was being sarcastic.
I was hoping the swedes would win because they had Nazzy and the twins but those players were hardly used? Got me beat why but maybe they just werent performing.
No tennis is not ballet. The Americans play pure power, but the Europeans have a more complete game. This particular Russian though was tough, but horrendous to look at.
