Rainbow Days: I have nothing against you. I did what you asked .... I went thru the leader board Looking for Secret Points players. You are the only one 18,ooo Secret points, Only one other person has 3000 secret points , everyone else has 2000 or less points. Tell me 18,000 un-earned points is fair. You went from 11 place to first in one day & made less than 500 moves. Fencer has an equal share of the problem here. He could have stopped this days ago ... & he didn't. There are alot of unhappy people here.
Somelaughs2: dont let it bother you too much, just enjoy for the games and wait until the rules fair up for you maybe next month. Certainly nothing to worry about.
Secret Points is not set up fair. Rainbow days has earned over 17,000 in 3 days. I was told yesterday that a cap was in place. I was told that the cap was no more than 1500 points in a day, well the day just started & Rainbow already has 2000 Secret points. I wont even bother to try again, until they get rid of these Secret Points. At the moment this is an Unfair contest, Rainbow has found a way to tap into the system & Fencer will not adjust his points ..... I have made my decision, Now Its your turn to speak out & let Fencer know how you feel. John
Chaosu: the idea of the secret action is to let the users explore the site more thouroughly and to test new features. by keeping the action secret it will force users to explore for real
the fact that the secret points wont work under firefox is a bit weird though, i admit, but its still part of it .. there is a link under the left menu (in my settings) that tells you to download firefox, maybe thats a hint :)
btw i havent collected any secret action points either .. i have tried a lot .. both in firefox (at home) as in ie (at work), but so far i havent found it :)
Fencer: Thats right, however You would probably easily see who is wrong and who is not. If You will start playing gomoku in some time You will see that starting player have advantages. Decide, play it anyway (not counting situations when You want learn it perfect, then it's understandable) even You feel it is unfair (if You want equal challenge for both players to see who is better in thinking) or switch to other game wich give (more) equal chances to both players (not counting experience this time). Of course this example do not fits here very good but You should understand what I really meant.
Chaosu: If I create any rules, no matter what kind of rules, there will be always someone who would claim "this is not fair to everyone" :-) C'est la vie.
Chaosu: The meaning of Secret Points is that the rules are NOT clear. Otherwise there would be nothing secret. Anyway, the system is continuously being improved and finetuned and I am sure the next month action would be suitable for everyone.
If I wouldn't look up here I would be like blind. No advertise that secret points can be earned only by IE (more secret then?). Those who earn many of these points probably aslo laugh at me! But whats the problem, good contest is when rules are clear and everyone can join.
Fencer: Being a bit new to this, well Action points, not BK LOL. So if i use Firefox i get no points at all, but if i use IE i do. Is that right ? I seem to have got some from somewhere over the last few days, but having tried both browsers todays nothing seems to happen on either.
torpedo man: last month a person got more points by 'reading' the boards... when that was 'tweaked' simple games like ludo were the key 'move' games... i just kept playing backgammon... this month more points can be earned by 'reading' ads... ludo probably still rules... i just keep playing backgammon...and chatting...that's why i'm here;] last year while playing utopia on swirve, one of their 'innocuous ads' tried to access my brokerage account! i'll just keep active x and pop-ups blocked, and play as long as i can...
gambler104: I too have basicaly given up on this contest, as of now I'm 7 th possition but see this amount of secret points given in a day w/out haveing to play very many game moves very dissapointing. I realy feel sad for the top two players as they will be soon passed up.
BIG BAD WOLF: Well I have basically given up on the competition this month. I worked hard at times today to build a 500 point or so lead in 10th place. Then I get passed in about five minutes by some guy who got about 6500 points from the secret points. It's kind of demoralizing really. I definitely think there should be some cap on the points, but those who found it would disagree.
rod03801: I would also agree on some cap on it - I figured out how to get it multipe times, but I've limited myself to one or twice only since it is one of those things that can quickly ruin the fun for everyone else in my opinion.
I'm not seeing many ads anymore either. (Ever since Aug. 1 it seems..)
Shouldn't there be SOME limit on the secret points? 15,000 or so in 2 days seems a bit much! lol..
Not that I had a chance of getting even in the top 500 action points, but if I did, it seems to take all the fun out of it if it simply becomes a contest between the few who found the secret, who just keep claiming the points over and over and over again..
Just seems like there should be SOME sort of cap on it.. but I'm sure those getting the points would disagree.. :-)
jurek: Hum... not sure why you stopped getting action points - a question for Fencer. Kind of strange you got them for a couple of days and then it stopped.
jurek: Action points are available to all browsers as long as ad's are showing up - do you have any programs which disable ads?
The "Secret" action points that some have been getting can only be found using IE for some "security" reason, but I believe Fencer was going to try to make it work for Firefox.
Fencer: Are action points currently unavailable for anyone who doesn't use IE? I haven't been accruing action points at all today or the past several days, despite making many moves on a couple different games. What about those of us who have no option (or desire!) to use IE (e.g. linux or mac users)?
Personally, I really don't care about action points; I don't have the time or desire to compete with everyone else for them. But I would like to see that this site remains browser-agnostic.
prettymama: I don't think so: 1) You can always invoke IE to get the points. It doesn't hurt. 2) It's not against the rules. Some users found the way and it's perfectly all right. Anybody can find it too.
