Walter Montego: Actually, if the two opponents are sitting one in front of the other both will be moving their pieces in the same direction. In this case, you'll move them anti-clockwise (for instance) and it will look like your opponent is moving clockwise, though, in his/her point of view, he's moving anti-clockwise as well.
However, if the two opponents are sitting side by side, they will indeed have to move each one in opposite directions.
This said, it doesn't matter to me which way the board goes, just as long as it stays the same during the whole game
pauloaguia: I'm sure that in the Farsi version of the site that "bug" won't be noticeable ;)
If you want to make a neat test, try writing a few characters using the latin alphabet, then paste some arabic ones and the another latins chars. Then move your cursor around and you'll see it gets all mixed up as well...
Andersp: Well I've just noticed the troublemaker and sent a message to the 3 online globs at the time. Only now have I come to read this board and undesrtand what is happening but I've already received a response from one of them
Of course, it's not your points that matter, but the ones of the opponents you beat in the tournament. So, if you won those 3 games to opponents that ended up with 2, 3 and 4 points respectively and the draw was to a player who has 1 points, your final SB will be 2 + 3 + 4 + 1/2 = 9,5. Hope it's better explained now
Summertop: The "points" are the points you end the tournament with. If you win 3 games and draw another, you'll have 3 and a half points. These are the points that are used to calculate SB score.
Pedro Martínez: So... it means that for 28% of the value of a Maharajah membership for one year, you get a lifetime Rook membership? Which has exactly the same benefits... So who'd want to pay for a Maharajah then?
Pythagoras: I believe on your second method the odds are more like:
Probability of getting nothing for free = 25%
Probability of getting 6 months for free = 50%
Probability of getting 1 year for free = 25%
Fencer: I think Marfitalu is requesting for the match games table to include the current game... maybe with something like "game in progress", instead of the winner name
Mrs.Reeves: From the rules page:
"Crawford rule: If a player reaches a score which is only 1 point away from winning the match, the next game is played as a Crawford round. In a Crawford round, the double cube is not used. If this round is finished and the match is not completed, the doubling cube can be used in all following games of the match."
That match is 1 point away from over. So the Crawford rule applies I think
heavenlyemma: If it's a match already in progress or you end up paired with that player in a tournament you really haven't the option not to play him... unless you resign, but it's unfair to have to resign in a game because of missconduct from your opponent.
wellywales: She gets the message... but why offer a draw? Her automatic vacation days are out. If she doesn't move till the next timeout, she will loose the game.
Anyway, it won't automatically release you from that tournament. Not until all the games in that section are finished.
Now, if you PM Fencer and ask him nicelly, maybe he'll get you out of it. (I think you have to finish all the games, though)
Matarilevich: I think Marfitalu's question was about the fact that the text doesn' have any reference to "Run in the Dark" ponds, not about not having any pond rules at all ;)
dams: It means that there are 22x games with the same characteristics waiting (same challenger, color, period, etc).
If you accept one of those invites, it will decrese (to 21x in your example)
Fencer: still 40 or more chess variants? I hope some other game variants show up before those 40, especially original variants.
Chess is starting to take over.
But at this rate, the 100 game barrier will be broken sometime early next year. Then my dream of being rated in all of them will finally be impossible, and I'll stop worrying about that
alanback:
Or that they know how to choose their opponents.
Or that the site is attracting better players
Or that you have a grudge that you're number 6 and not in top 5 ;)
ArtfulDodger: On the top left corner of your screen you'll see a red (1), meaning you have a game to play... just click the one and we'll go from there ;)
Andre Faria: I always use PayPal, never had any problems with it...
I believe pgomes had some trouble with his subscription as well and he was trying to use Moneybookers... he ended up directing his payment through me, if you want to do the same just PM me...
Princess Alison: Go to "Paid Membership" and on the right you'll see Membership: PrincessAllison. Just click the "Change" button and select some other player's name.
Marfitalu: Only paying members can edit or delete their own messages.
