Fencer: No. Good players can't predict dice rolls either. It's irrelevant. I admit proof is not easy, although analysing a large number of games and comparing moves to those of a gammon program is possible. I'm not suggesting you're going to do this. Not being able to enforce the rule is no excuse for condoning it's infringement though. If someone admitted using a program, at the least he can be told it is not acceptable.
Fencer: I'm rather disturbed by your response. The user agreement clearly states that using computers to make moves is cheating. Are you saying you don't mean this?
There are at least 3 well-known backgammon playing programs and they all play to a very high standard - world class in fact. So playing against a computer is like playing against a world champion player.
It seems that newly created ponds are running normally but existing ones have effectively been stalled. When I saw the message 'Game time is suspended' I assumed I was safe but in fact I have messed up once or twice. I think that message is a bit confusing.
The problem for me was I'm using Firefox and had disabled off-site graphics. Adding img.uff.cz to the allowable sites fixed this problem as Dano advised on the computer board.
If you play on a real board, one player bears off to his bottom right and the other to his bottom left since one player goes clockwise and the other anti-clockwise. This is fairly easy to get used to. The problem here is bearing off from the top of the board which you never do normally.
Now that the obvious Back/Nackgammon bugs have been sorted out, can we do something about this. As far as I can make out the boards for backgammon and all the variations are upside down for both players. ie The 2 backmen (4 for Nack) start on your own side of the table instead of your opponents side as they should. The boards shown to each player just need to be swapped over so that White would see what Black sees now and vice versa. This would make life a lot easier. Thanks.
What you say about bearing off is true. However normally you both bear off from your side of the board. At the moment we are bearing off from the opponent's side of the board. This is like starting a game and then swapping seats with your opponent.
