I admit proof is not easy, although analysing a large number of games and comparing moves to those of a gammon program is possible. I'm not suggesting you're going to do this. Not being able to enforce the rule is no excuse for condoning it's infringement though. There are at least 3 well-known backgammon playing programs and they all play to a very high standard - world class in fact. This is fairly easy to get used to. As far as I can make out the boards for backgammon and all the variations are upside down for both players. ie The 2 backmen (4 for Nack) start on your own side of the table instead of your opponents side as they should. The boards shown to each player just need to be swapped over so that White would see what Black sees now and vice versa. This would make life a lot easier. However normally you both bear off from your side of the board. At the moment we are bearing off from the opponent's side of the board.
