Hi all,

As some of you that i was playing a game against, have noticed, i haven't been connected for about a week. I had a very horrible situation: An amazingly violent thunderstorm and a thunder near my home destroyed 90% of all the electrical machines in my house and my PC and had as a result, a really bad situation at the electrical network in my area. For 2 days we didn't have any electrical power and until i replace my PC i can't play of cource, since i have to go at town to find any workable PC.......

I have lost around 400 games from time-out and this is a huge dissapointment. I will continue playing just 2 Gothic Chess games(the one with the prize) and lose the remaining ones. SORRY, but it was not up to me to do something........

Fencer: I was in about 90% of the tranlation and only countries' names remained along with some minor things. And bang! All were lost..........Nothing more to say except that i wil try to re-translate........

I have lost along with the Greek translation of Brainking, 8.000 PDF + 12.000 PS, with mathematic, programming and scientific related files, around 880 Chess engines (i had every Chess engine ever existed that was available), 19.000 PGN files (with around 47.000.000 Chess games!!!!!), 8.000 pictures, 20.000 music files, a huge Atomic Chess opening theory i was preparing with around !!!!70 times!!!! more variations than all known Atomic sites offer (for example: Vlasov's site) and with a line that is probably proves a forced win for white and much, much more......... It is dramatical................!


Fencer: I would like to create a _new_ Rook-account called "Chessmaster5000", while at the same time, to be able to play these 2 aforementioned games of Gothic Chess and after i finish them, Chessmaster1000 will be history. In this game -+click here+-, i played the 12-move before 4-5 hours. But in my surprise when i opened the game again now, i had to play again the 12-move.

But this is not the only bizarre thing......This game it's a Dark Chess game. And when i played my 12-move the first time, i saw that my opponent didn't have any piece at c3 and b4 squares......But now i have played it again i see he has a Knight on c3!!!!!!!
What the hell is going on.........?!?!?!?!

Any suggestions.........?

PS: I'm not 99.999999999% sure that all the aforementioned happened, i'm 100% sure!

CRC is a good game (actually GC is just a starting position of CRC) but any "Fischer/Capablanca Random" implementation of Chess or Gothic Chess is not in the same league with the original games, because of lack of opening theory, due to many starting positions and because of the random factor inside them. Why these 2 things should be a disadvantage.......? Well it is........:-)

2)But a recalculation of the BKRs should have the same results for any number of times this recalculation will be done. I mean if now you re-recalculate the BKRs then we should have the SAME EXACT results for every player, excluding the players had a 2700. So for me for example, that didn't hit any 2700 BKR, my BKR should stay the same. But this happens if and only if the recalculation has been made only with the change for the 2700 limit. But since my BKRs changed, then something other must changed on the process of the calculation of the BKRs. Did you changed anything else......?

2 Questions:

1)Since Ed Trice is the inventor of Gothic Chess and since you include the other inventors of the games, why you removed his name........?

2)My rating on some games increased and on some decreased and as PlayBunny said this happened to him too. And you said that this is because the 2700 limit has been removed. But i can't see how this affects in any way the ratings! Except the cases when a player had a 2700 and stayed there after winning some games-but that doesn't happened in any of my games or PlayBunny's. So....

And what about this recalculation? Does the system of calculation of the BKR will be changed dramatically or just minor changes......?

I completely disagree! In fact i couldn't disagree more.... The act of not allowing 5 consecutive 4's for example or a specific series of rolls, because it doesn't seem fair for one player, is completely out of the philosophy of a luck-based game.......!

A good random number generator is important for having a decent Backgammon game, but having a bad random number generator is not unfair as long as the system doesn't give advantage to a specific player. If there is a flaw at the RNG, but there is no advantage settled from before for a specific player, then everything is fair.
And as i want to believe and believe, that there is no advantage given to any player, then every hypothetical flaw giving too many consecutive doubles, is not unfair. Of cource as i've said, such a flaw doesn't give a decent Backgammon game.......

But i wonder, i have played 450+ Backgammon games here and i have never seen more than 2 consecutive doubles for a player........In fact i can even complain about too "normal" distribution of the rolls......And this is a fact in my opinion. Also it's a fact that there are no wild series of rolls and this is somewhat related to my other observation.

I believe that the moderator issue (and in my opinion there is an issue) has only one solution:
Put only one trustworthy moderator per board or in even more than one boards, and keep him/her for a looooong time.

Fencer ONLY (and not any global persons) as a wise man, will decide if he/she is doing his/her job well and everything will be perfect........!
My opinion.........

playBunny: and even some games (I guess what you might call standard games) at World Class level. This is something that any of the top 50(?) players here is capable of.

Reduce approximatelly 45 from 50 and you are OK....
I guess that the first 50 are on the Intermediate to Advanced in the GNUBG grades.....That's mainly because almost all here play too defensively by not leaving any blots.
(A small example: I've seen millions of times to play the starting 41 as a 5, you know where. Awful!) This is not a terrible strategy, its quite successful(although compared to the best strategy is far behind), but that combined with other weaknesses, it's way below the GNUBG's Expert level............

Also do not always trust the Snowie's or GNUBG's or Jellyfish's or BGBlitz's (you forgot that and it's really strong!) estimates of your play.
For example the usual thing with me is that GNUBG finds around 3 small (Second choices or ?! if you are familiar with GNUBG's analysis) mistakes on a game, but after a rollout, the 2 of them are actually the best moves.........So you should always do a rollout in the identified mistakes......

Also Jellyfish 3.5 as a player !!in its full strenth!! but without any analysing features, is free and very small to download and play with a very good player......

Right now i would rank as following:
1) GNUBG 0.14.3 with very little difference from
2) Top Human Players + Snowie 4.1
3) BGBlitz 1.9.0
4) Jellyfish 3.5

The bad thing is that it's too random. Almost never things get wild (to have a 66, 2 consecutive times and then 2 44). The expected distribution of all 21 rolls has a very short period.
I mean if you take, even 6·36 = 216 rolls, then the odds for each of the 21 possible rolls, will be almost the same with the theoretical. I would prefer a large value of 200·36 = 7200 rolls, to be each different roll near on the theoretical value..........

Another odd problem.....:
I had all the time 147 (New) Messages in my message box. So every X new messages are sent to me, it appears as 147+X. So i read these X and delete them and have again 147.
Today my message box had 149 so i expected to have 2 new messages. But there was nothing new...... And putting the pointer on the "number 147" it says i have a new message from "XXXX". But nothing in the message box?!?!?

I see some tournaments that the players should play some specific first moves (for example at Chess to begin with 1.e4 d6).
My question is what would happen if one player doesn't play the recommended moves, because either forgets about it or deliberately doesn't......
Does the creator of the tournament has the power to delete this player or declare the game as lost for the naughty player or what..........?

The main page says that my "first" game will expire in 1 hour. I have activated the auto-protection thing, but let's suppose i hadn't.
Then if i wanted to protect the games from expiration, i would have to add one vacation day for Saturday. But this isn't possible as i have it on my weekend days.
So i suppose that (even with the auto-protection off) the games will be protected during Saturday even if the main page shows that in 1 hour they will expire...........
