This tourney is coming up: The Big Prize Tournament 2014 I wonder if I should join, it seems like it gives me around 1200 games !? [128 games * 9 opponents in the group, minus a bit for smaller groups]
furbster: I expect that most original participants of that tournament will no longer be members at this site and that the majority of won games will be by default due to a few extremely slow players that truthfully wrecked this tournament. I'm looking forward to the next 10 years of this tournament. May the youngest person win! I know I will still be around ;-)
beach: This tourney isn't seven years old, but it is over 3 years old and only in the 2nd round of a 1-game match, single elimination tournament. So slow!
cd power: This is why I have always preferred to join Tourneys that do not allow Vacation days. This will keep the people who rely on vacation day to play and hopefully keep them out of the tournaments. Why join if you are going to take forever to make a move. If the tourney is 3 days, so be it.
Days after the deadline before a tournament with not enough players is deleted: 13
Nackgammon (2 - open) - you are signed up Backgammon Race (2 - open) - you are signed up Crowded Backgammon (2 - open) - you are signed up Hyper Backgammon (2 - open) - you are signed up Battleboats Plus (3 - open) - you are signed up Dark Battleboats (2 - open) - you are signed up Ludo (2 - open) - you are signed up Logik (1 - open) - you are signed up
arpa: The good news (or bad news depending on your perspective) is that all players who will or can advance to the next round are still active players as of this month.
No one will time out because they haven't logged in in a few years....
*edit: There is more good news. All the players who advance will play in a single section, so with any luck there won't be a round 4!!!

TC: Top 10%? This is quite vague. Perhaps you should define positions. Besides, the ratings change all the time. In fact, someone can meet the criteria when joining and after the start of the tournament but not just before the start of the tournament.
At any case, I hope you enjoy the tournaments despite the rather unfriendly announcement.
In GO tournament I play and wait for next round there is a player that stubbornly or just stupidly play and play and play and play. I messaged to him with request for ending his game, but after weeks he still play and did nothing. His game is obviously ended and he can do nothing fair(waiting for his opponent death is undoubtedly not) to win this game. This man have "3 kyu" and game is here: "http://brainking.com/en/ShowGame?g=5457769". Are there some possibilities to end this game(maybe sending message to admin) or cases like this are hopeless. This game can take many many months before finish.

ThunderGr: Yes, it is very hard to fix, perhaps impossible the requirements when you want to announce 10 backgammon games in one tournament group!
If you are not an admin (I am not!) in brainking.com game server, you need some magic (more busy) or team imembers interested to arrange this type tournament!
Hopefully, you can offer better than this one, and more friendly!
vstjrt: The fastest way to end a game is to resign. If you think you are the one winning, just keep passing. Each stone he places, deprives him of winning space. Every player is entitled to playing the game to the end. I would hardly call this "stubbornness". We are humans and humans make mistakes.

TC: No offense meant, of course, and it is a lot of work for the organizer of the tournament to take care of just before the tournament starts. The 10% stroke me as an oddity and, of course, there is the issue with the inactive top players :).
Perhaps "unfriendly announcement" was a wrong term. As I said, no offense meant.
vstjrt: Maybe he just doesn't know how to play and is an experiential learner, learning as the game progresses. Over time, a player will learn when they are beat, some will resign and some hold on hope for the win by time out. I for one know nothing about the game so I would end up playing until it was obvious to me (a beginner) that I was beat. Most experienced players know when a game is won long before the novice, and it doesn't really matter what the game type is.
