MadMonkey: I understand that completely monkeyman and I have left those inactive fellowships. I see no point in joining if you are not going to participate. Another thing I don't care for on those is that they are random games. I only join ones that I know the game I will be playing as I don't know how to play a lot of the games, i,e, chess for one and there are many versions of that. Sorry if I seem antisocial or something....I am not!!
FrancescoLR: I no the time you have to spend because i had to do the same & that is just on smaller tournament's..lol I have heard of a black book before,,,,,but black list is a new one on me,,,,so i am going to add that in my book GOOD Luck my friend because you well desire it for running tournament that size.

ONLY 6 SLOTS left! and ONLY 4 HOURS LEFT TO SIGN UP!
Keeping with tradition I've got another St Patricks Day Tournament out there but I'm changing things up a bit this time.
Only 64 people will be allowed into this years tournament since it's Single Elimination with a '2 wins to advance' match format. The Single Elimination is an experiment to make things more head to head and skill centric, hopefully taking away the random advantage a player can sometimes get over another in a section. (for example: where a player times out in just one game and gives an advantage to one of two other equal players.)
I'm keeping the same time limits as last years (2 days per move with vacation allowed) since that seemed to work rather well. Cash prizes are kind of a pain for Fencer to deal with so I've decided to set the prize as one year Brain Rook (approximately 50$ US value).
So you have to ask yourself, do you feel you have the pente luck of the Irish? well sign up and see how far you can make it through the grid! On St. Patricks Day (March 17, 2009) the tourney begins! Good luck to all players, I look forward to playing you across the board!
This message is specially for coan.net and tanein, but i would like to read more opinions about my idea. What do you think about a random team tournament? When a team tournament is created, each team join their best players, but with a random team tournament, that task would be more difficult. A good chess player can have to play a froglet game, a good checkers player can have to play a lines game, for example, etc, etc...
So more important will be the variety of games that each player knows play. ;) This never was tried, so why not?
Tuesday: Sure. I am in a few fellowships that do tournaments like that, so I know it is possible. I think if you just set it up, and say that the prize is 200 brains, and PM Fencer, he will make sure it happens. Maybe one of the Big/Little Bosses who set up those types of tournaments frequently will clairify, here.
JOIN ANY OF THESE FELLOWSHIPS AND YOU WILL RECEIVE AN INVITATION ( ONLY ONE ) TO PLAY IN MEGA TOURNEY WITH PRIZES UP TO THE 10TH PLACE ( or maybe 16th place ?? )(only if you join one of the fellowships you will be invite )( i have seen many new pawns so i will change rules little bit )( I invite old pawns so former members of brainking in one tourney by invitations only ) MUST BE FAIR WITH MEMBERS OF BRAINKING AND TO THOSE WHO HAVE JOINED THE FELLOWSHIPS
I am glad that BrainKing allows users to create tournaments. It is a very nice feature that I think few if any other sites allow. I would like to make a request to tweak BrainKings tourney structure:
Can we set a limit for open tourney's any individaul can have to, let's say, 10?
I'm sure many others agree with me... so let's discuss...
rednaz23: I've agreed with that for a long time - but 10 is too low. (for example, when i was making a lot of "fast start" 5 player tournaments, I could easily make 15-20 tournaments... almost all would fill up and start in the first few days.
But a limit of 20 or 25 public tournaments waiting for "sign-up" would be something I would support.
Plus I would LOVE to see the the "time for deadline" be changed from the current 29 days after start to something more resonable like 5 or 10 days after start date.... which if someone REALLY wants it to wait longer can easily change the start date to keep it on there longer. (Most tournaments I see go a few days past will stay on there for the whole time with very few getting more players... so no point keeping them open for the next month.)
coan.net: all would depends on the type of games .. i agree with 10 maximun because i can create one tourney with all games wich multiply per 10 times makes over 100 tourneis for each .... so could go up to 1000 tourneis ... the problem truly is that there are players in brainking that sign for tourneis and then move every month so i am having problems with players that i invite for mega tourney wich got stucked in tourneis forever so i will have to ask the Good Fencer to release them .. ( one player started a tourney 5 yrs ago and he hasnt even finish 1 game that is ridicoulos .. those players should be banned from playing in tournament forever ! ) so do not worry about how many tourneis we can create but who is signed ...
FrancescoLR: I agree with Francesco. Besides, there're players that refuse to use auto pass in games where is possible and that's ridiculous. Auto pass was created specially for that players play more fast in particular situations, i guess, but many of these players don't use it, trying win for time-out or other strange reason. :(
If a tournament has a prize in Brains, and a player has enough victories so that no one can catch him/her (in other words, so that his/her winning the tournament is assured), is the Brain-Prize awarded immediately, or does he/she have to wait until all games by all players have been completed?
FrancescoLR: I think this discussion needs to stay focused to the tournament board tourneys that are open... you can't control who signs up for every tourney (in all reality you can because you can manually boot someone from a tourney) which is your arguement; however you should be able to control how many tourneys a person has open at a given time. I think 10 tournaments is very reasonable. For those that want to start a ton of tournaments; they can start 10 every day and leave them open for a day... or start one every day and leave them open for 10 days... or whatever combination you can think of; but allowing people to leave potentially hundreds of tournaments is ridiculous. I'll prove my point by starting a couple hundred tourneys and then I'll tell you to look at the tournament board. WAIT... go there now and you'll see it like that anyways because of a few people that create the same tourneys a hundred fold!
Instead of making this a general request for a limit on open tourneys; I think we should make it an opportunity to give one more reason to pawns to become a member... make additional tourneys a perk to becoming a member! For example:
Pawns are allowed to have 1 open tourney. Bishops: 3 Knights: 5 Black Knights and White Rooks: 10 Black Rooks: 15 so on and so forth...
This gives one more 'perk' to becoming a member while still allowing everyone to have open tournies. More than fair.
What does this do to the tournament board? I believe it will have less tournaments on the board which should have close to or possibly even more participation due to more members in a tournament (Instead of 3 people in 10 tournaments you get maybe 7 people in 3 tournaments), thus allowing more tournaments to start!
ALSO: Hopefully this will spur additional members to create unique tournaments which will spur additional people to look at the board more often instead of being flooded with the same thing again and again... and again! I hope this is seriously considered... it wouldn't take much to code this (from my understanding) into BrainKing. Long term it is one more marketing point (perk) to get people to consider a higher membership... As a member of Brainking for nearly 3 years; I have become all but bored with the tournaments and believe it has something to do with the same small group of people creating the tournaments...
Another thought: maybe we have Official Brainking tournaments once a month, once a quarter, or even once a year to see who the best is??? Then give brains or a prize (picture of a big blue ribbon or a gold medal!) on their profile... further thoughts to think about...

Mousetrap: Ahh come on now Red was on TV for many year's At the end of any appearance he made he would alway's say GOD BLESS He could make anyone laugh:))))
Mousetrap: He died in 1997, at 84, but was known best for his tv show in the 70's. He was a very gentle, loving man who spent his life making people laugh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czZKiitvIZY
"GERRY": Actually he would always say "May God Bless". When asked in an interview as to why he would always put in the "May" he said that in his opinion it was inappropriate and arrogant to say it any other way because he thought it would be a demand instead of a request
"GERRY": Ah I see ,Thanks lol! We never got Old Red on tv here but we did have someone else that always used to say (and an extra special goodnight to those on their own)
